I don't get to read as much as I did before the kidos, Right now I am reading "Little Women" to my daughter. The last book I read myself was a biography of Jane Austen. I used to read everything I could get my hands on, now I spend all my free time here.

Twenty Thousand Roads by David N. Meyer, about the wild and dissolute life and times of one Ingraham Cecil Connor...or, as he was better known as, Gram Parsons.
Hotel California, by Barney Hoskyns, about the California folk and rock scene of the 1960s and early 1970s that gave rise to the Eagles and many others. This includes a fair bit about Linda Ronstadt and her high-degree of integrity and intellect, too.

Just finished "Sleeping with Schubert" --- HIGHLY recommended.
Am currently reading "Out of Sight" -- Elmore Leonard (Get Shorty & Maximum Bob) - typical Leonard so far........
And "The Grandma Stubblefield Rose" -- A little book by a kindergarten teacher from my elem. school (so that would be history local to my old hometown).

Besides my text books? Currently I'm reading 'An Unconventional Family' by Sandra Lipsitz Bem. I have to read it for one of my classes, but I'm finding it extremely interesting. Of course, it's a book that has to do with family life, which is my area of study, so I'd better find it interesting.

I'm reading "The Irresistible Revolution - living as an ordinary radical" by Shane Claiborne. It is about what is called the emerging church in America, the church that actually goes out into the community and practices the love of Christ.

I'm just started reading Washington's Secret War: The Hidden History of Valley Forge. So far I'm only 100 pages or so into the book and it's extremely interesting.
I just finished reading Imperfect God: George Washington, his slaves and the American Revolution. This book was extremely fascinating. It chronicled the attitude of George Washington's view on slavery until his death we he emancipated all of his slaves in his final will and testament.
I also just finished a romance by Catherine Anderson called Morning Light (I think) but I so did not love it. So if anyone else reads romance novels just my thoughts.

I'm reading "Raising Boys" by Steve Biddulph an Australian psychologist, its all about, you guessed it raising boys. Its very interesting. I've just finished reading "how to win friends and influence people" (I felt my people skills have been lacking!). Next I will read the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin - who I know nothing about but am interested to learn about.

I am reading Rebel Angels which is the book after A Great And Terrible Beauty. The third book in the series just came out. Good choice! I bought the third the day it came out, 800 pages, and I had it finished in about five days. I love those books. Annyway, I'm currently reading The Spanish Bow by some dude. Lately I've been picking up books that has anything violin related on the cover. . it's very shallow of me.

THERESE OF LISIEUX: GOD'S GENTLE WARRIOR" by Thams R. Nevin . . . more than a biography of Saint Therese; an examination of the various threads that contributed to her life and formation of her spiritual path "the little way" . . . and an understanding also of her times - makes reading her own autobiography so much more focused when you read that . . . (and a positive point about Nevin's writing style: although he can write "pedantically", he IS clear and informative and orderly . . . and although he quotes many passages in their original French, he follows immediately with an english translation. so you don't have to flip to an appendix or footnotes to find one if you don't speak or read French (as i don't). ha!
