Beautiful Russian Girls ad at the top of this page ! If there's anyone who I'd like to smack in the mouth it's Russell Brand. Having said that, I do find him amusing sometimes!

I just started reading this new book and while the premise seems interesting the first few pages have been a little difficult to get into. Hopefully it picks up.
"The Secret Founding of America: The Real Story of Freemasons, Puritans & The Battle for the New World." by Nicholas Hagger

Lately I've only read for my study (Bachelor of Education: Primary Education): books on cooperative learning and storyline approach learning. Interesting stuff, though I'm looking forward to read for pleasure again. There are a lot of new childrensbooks waiting for me (I work as a librarian in a Public Library).

Welcom to the board imarber. My current reading is a daily dose of 'The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt'

I don't have much of an attention span for books these days but I did just finish Marley and Me by John Grogan It was really cute.
My all time favourite book though is Tuesday's with Morie by Mitch Albom. I just love this book and read it over and over when I am in between books. I've never seen the movie. I think it may ruin the book for me.

Alexander Sozhenistyn's "A WORLD SPLIT APART" - Sozhenisyn's commencement address at Harvard University, June 8, 1978 . . . i read it back when it was first published . . . and with the recent death of this giant moral voice and presence, i thougt i'd re-visit his writings before i once again tackle a re-reading of his "Gulag Archipelago" trilogy . . . he identified with an "Orthodox Russia" . . . and that exists as a spiritual reality wherever any person of faith may live or find himself . . . it exists within oneself . . . whether one is in or of the East or of the West . . .
(one of my favorite novels is "Doctor Zhivago" by Boris Pasternak . . . and i recall that when Pasternak died, Sozhenitsyn was one of his pall bearers . . . and the soul and mantle of the spiritual heritage of "Mother Russia" was passed on to Alexander Sozhenitsyn . . . and i wonder if there is yet another literary "Elisha" who will carry that light to the world now that Alexander has died . . . )

I've found just the opposite is way preferable. Books provide character development, and plot twists a film typically glosses over, if it addresses them at all. But to each their own!!!
