Linda's memoir, released on September 17th. It doesn't mention the fact that she was forced to retire because of Parkinson's, but it does focus on what always mattered the most to her, which was the music. Don't expect any dirt or gossip to be spilled; if you do, then you've got the wrong book.

I just picked up Julia Serano's book "Excluded: Making Queer and Trans Movements More Inclusive". I read her first book, Whipping Girl, and she was so on point with pretty much everything that I'm very excited to read this book.

STEVEN SPIELBERG AND DUEL: THE MAKING OF A FILM CAREERThis new book by Steven Awalt is a fascinating look at the making of the classic 1971 made-for-TV suspense thriller DUEL, and how its success elevated its then 24 (going on 25) year-old director, Steven Spielberg, into the ranks of Hollywood's all-time greats.

Just finished "The Third Angel" Alice Hoffman (a great book). Am almost finished with "The Story Sisters" Alice Hoffman (a bit darker).

Paul Seydor's incredibly insightful, jaw-dropping look at director Sam Peckinpah's extremely troubled 1973 Western (his last) PAT GARRETT AND BILLY THE KID, and the conflicts behind its making, its truncated theatrical release, and its resurrection on DVD. Essential to understanding this most maverick of filmmakers, along with what is probably the darkest and most tragic Western in Hollywood history.

Hector Toba's book Deep Dark Down details the 2010 saga of the thirty-three Chilean miners trapped half a mile beneath the surface of the Atacama Desert when the mine they're working in caves in around them, and they are placed in a 69-day struggle for survival awaiting a very difficult and dangerous rescue operation. This formed the basis of the recently-released film THE 33.

Holly Gleason's compendium of female country singers and historians paying homage to the legendary women of country music. This book includes Grace Potter (she of the Nocturnals) paying homage to Linda Ronstadt, among other things.

Author Michael Benson's compelling and masterful behind-the-scenes look at the creation of one of the great works of cinematic art, a work that started out as an attempt to create "the proverbial good science fiction movie", and ended up becoming a masterpiece of the highest order, where it remains 50 years after its controversial release.

Before leaking the Pentagon Papers in 1971, Daniel Ellsberg also was involved with planning nuclear war strategies at the Rand Corporation and the Pentagon. In this book, Ellsberg describes in detail that entire history of his, and the whole of the history that surrounds it.

Author W.K. Stratton looks at the legend, the creation, and the history of one of the seminal films of the late 1960s, namely director Sam Peckinpah's magisterial (and extremely violent) 1969 Western epic THE WILD BUNCH. Included in the book is a look at the Mexican Revolution of the early 1910s, the time period where the film is set. A must-read for film buffs (IMHO).

Linda's second memoir, Feels Like Home: A Song For The Sonoran Borderlands, written with former New York Times writer Lawrence Downes, chronicles her childhood and ancestral background in that vast expanse known as the Sonoran Desert, her part of which stretches from her hometown in Tucson, Arizona, past the US/Mexico border, and all the way down to the small town of Banamichi in the Mexican state of Sonora. It is filled with authentic receipes, as well as some choice words for our 45th president (whom she need not name, because why give that b*****d any more unwarranted press?), and a deep love for that land in which she grew up and which remains a part of her.
