Well, the 2 rattlers that we killed last week doesn't help. The first sign of any snake and I'd be moving back to the city. Email from Texas: For the 'outdoorsy' folks in areas where rattlers are native, a good reason to keep your grass cut. Brace yourselves for these pictures. This bad boy measured 7 feet, 6 inches! Police Chief Robert Snyder shot him this morning (7-28-09) inside a homeowner's nice yard in Shadow Glen, on the north side of 290 between Austin Texas and Elgin Texas in the little town of Manor. The lady had 4 kids playing in the yard at the time. Please be really careful to watch out for snakes. In this drought, they are coming in closer, looking for water. They just mentioned today that local ER's are noting a substantial rise in snakebite cases. They're on the move. You can see that he had a full belly in picture #2. [click to enlarge]

If they had looked like that, I would be gone too. They were substantially smaller, still......ugh.... Yay for Denver. Boo for you being alone. I told him he could go, you know he has to "ask" anyway. Though I told him he had to reassemble the shot gun & go buy ammo for me.

Oh i'm so glad we don't have to deal with rattlers..... How do you deal with coming face to face with them?

I'm with Thinwhite on this, I'd be moving back to town the moment I come across a snake. I remember the pics smuddy posted of a rattler found in her backyard.......................................they scare the hell out of me!
Mind you, at least he had a good meal before his life was brutally ended!!

I almost ran over a six foot rattler on Sunday when I was mountain biking. It was just ambling across the dirt road I was on. No big deal. He was singing "Ready To Run"........

I just had a very stressful day at work. I'm half way through a bottle of wine so I'm feeling a little less stressed. I'm not a big wine drinker but I went and bought 2 bottles straight after work...I drink red and my sister like white.. they're going down nicely!

I sneezed hard and that made it strain. Ooomff!! Well, you know that sucker is sore when that happens. Thanks for the tip drizz. I am just being delicate so far. I actually want someone to stand on it! I don't know why that thought is so relieving. But no one is here!

Study, don't party. Take advantage of volunteer work &/or working in "groups" on campus.

Hey everythings good in moderation. Study, but do go out every now and again so you don't get burned out.

I went to see a really cool exhibit yesterday. It tells the entire story of the Titanic tragedy. You see re-creations of the 3rd class and 1st class cabins, and it is jam packed full of actual artifacts recovered from the bottom of the ocean at the site where the pieces of the ship finally landed. You see lots of personal items of passengers...jewelry, personal papers, suitcases, articles of clothing, eyeglasses, postcards, luggage tags, shaving kits, etc. And there's an "iceberg room" where you learn all about the hours prior to the collision with the iceberg. They even have an actual iceberg that you can touch so that you can get an idea of just how cold the water was when the passengers hit it. Most of them died from hypothermia rather than drowning. It was a very sobering exhibit, IMHO. If you're a history buff and/or a Titanic buff, I would definitely recommend going to see this. discoverytsx.com/nyc/exhibitions.php?id=1000
