This year has been tough for me both emotionally and financially. I am about 2-3 semesters from finishing my Associates in Sociology, but I am soooo burnt out! With working ft, 9 credits a semester, summer school and health issues, it's becoming too much.
Although I registered for one class this summer term, I think both for my sanity and my pocket book, I may drop the class and take the summer off to (hopefully) recoup. I think I've focused too much on the goal at the end, forgetting and forsaking everything between.

It's tough to do school & work (or family). Hang in there, is all I can say.
There are going to be job openings in the social services (and behavioral health) sectors w/ the new health care initiative. HINT HINT
I'm hoping to move over to behavioral health from social services. I'm not holding my breath though.

HINT HINT I'm hoping to move over to behavioral health from social services. I'm not holding my breath though. I've decided to drop my summer class and focus on bettering myself (health issues) over the summer, and hopefully return refreshed for fall term. I'm glad to hear there will be more jobs opening up! I had started my transfer application so I can get my Bachelors, but with wages at the moment, obtaining my Bachelors wouldn't be financially worth it. Although it will take a year or more for me to get my "ducks in a row", I am currently browsing other areas to move, yet be within 8-10hrs of my family. I haven't found too many jobs in Oregon, so I've refocused to Bellingham/Blaine/Lynden, WA & Surrey, Abbotsford and Burnaby, BC. Ya never know what will open up! Maybe you'll be able to move over quicker than you think!

I'm looking for an apparently hard to find book: Gumbatta (the John Gotti Story). I've only had one hit (no pun intended) on the internet, a mention in a thread on a message board.
Does anyone have suggestions as to where I can look for hard to find books?

Ask at a book store. Was that helpful. Barnes & Noble online maybe?

I searched a lil. Ah you must be talking about ~wackbag.com In case there's technical typos, there is a book by author Diego Gambetta in 1993, called The Sicilian Mafia: The Business of Private Protection. (It seems to be rare and there is an Italian version on the net as well.)
Gambetta is an apparently acclaimed scholar of U.S. mafias and their politics. In a pdf essay found on the net, written by a social sciences student, the book is referred to heavily and mentions Gotti. Perhaps....? Other than that, the only real Gotti bio book seems to be Mob Star.

Awesome to hear. And jealous. Still waiting to rebuild my skins so I can rock out too. I don't think the neighborhood has to stay so quiet much longer.

I think it could be the book by Diego Gambetta, but it's not at my local library to make sure. I did find both books you mentioned on a couple sites though. I may go ahead and order them, as they're not too expensive. Thanks for looking though!

However the Italian "gumbatta" term still seems legit since it means" close friend". I suppose with mafias that was a crucial scenario. Perhaps.

Lately I feel like a teletubby. Every time I go in my back yard there's like three rabbits hoppin around near me, fearlessly.

I am sick and tired of turning in winning scratch tickets to gas stations and getting all these different employees say " winner winner chicken dinner." has got to be the worst phrase of all time. but being the dork that I am, I give them a pity smile which only tells them that they should keep saying it.

I wonder if this once vibrant forum will pick up when the new album comes out or if everyone has moved on forever.

I wonder if this once vibrant forum will pick up when the new album comes out or if everyone has moved on forever. Turns out it has picked up a little, would be nice if it gets a bit bussier but without a tour i'm not sure it will.
