This evening there was a heavy hint via The Chicks Twitter account that they are about to schedule a 2014 Tour...... Who's excited?

I think what's most exciting is that it could possibly be a US tour. I replied to the tweet with the suggestion of coming to Virginia and they favorited it, so I'm hoping that means something. Can't wait!!

Two things. Is it really a full U.S. tour and are they touring to promote a new album in the works?

Thanks, Tony - but I had seen that photo too.
Why I was asking whether there was another tweet was because the only solid replies after that seemed to refer to the two C2C dates in London and Dublin. (Where people asked about other places, there didn't seem to be a direct answer)
That, of course, would be understandable if they do plan to tour more generally, but don't yet have any firm details. But, as so often, things still look some way off being definite.
Kent, I think the chances of an album are still remote - but even if they weren't, I don't see them being ready with one in time for a 2014 tour. However, if serious touring is a possibility we might get one or two different songs. Adding further DC revivals to set lists might be the easiest possibility, and Natalie was talking about Godspeed or Lullaby on Twitter. A cover of some random Pop song would be the second possibility. Something from an Alt Country source like Patty Griffin or Ryan Adams is a possibility too. But I wouldn't rule out an entirely new trio song (if a serious tour materializes) - however, the Canadian dates that have already passed hinted at "exciting new sounds", and the fact that nothing solid emerged in that context may be a sign that agreement on new material still eludes them.

This is a serious Lubbock take on Spanish Polka (by Joe Ely and Joel Guzman - who've been performing with Natalie's father, on and off, for much of her life). Joe would be happy to bring Martie and Emily up to speed - provided Natalie's willing to let her own joke bring her home!

I think you're right about any new material they might perform on a 2014 tour. The whole idea of a tour intrigues me but I'm not so sure it would happen early in the year. Maybe July as a starting date. What are some of the reasons they would want to tour? The top reason I can think of is money of course. Let's see how this Canadian tour goes over the next 3 weeks.

The bottom line is why tweet what they did? And ask for suggestions.....it's obvious ..they're touring in 2014 for proper. That tweet would not have been made if they there wouldn't be another tour in 2014. It's being planned right now......

It might just be wishful thinking, but it wouldn't make any sense for them to do ANOTHER tour, especially a US tour, without new material. I mean, how many tours can you do without any news albums? Surely they have something up their sleeves. I know it would contradict things they have recently said about new Chicks music not being likely, but anything's possible.

Then again, they haven't really done a lot of stuff here in the US. Wasn't their tag along with the Eagles tour the only actual tour they did here since doing AAA?

It seems clear that the management and/or record label have been keen for them to reappear as an active group. They seem to have acted quickly when a gap arose in the original Canadian festivals, due to Lady Antebellum cancelling dates because of Hillary Scott's pregnancy. Natalie referred to being "outvoted" by "everybody", and mentioned management in that context, during her Stern broadcast a few months ago. She has mentioned two separate issues in relation to her reluctance - the "tainted" aspect of the DC identity, and reluctance to "multi-task" the promotion of her solo album at the same time as DC appearances.
Although the album received good press notices, it did not have much impact in the general market, and promotion has been pretty low key. My guess would be that Natalie found it easier in practice to combine the two than she feared it would be. With regard to the "tainted" issue, I'd like to believe that her reception has, at least to some extent, modified her reservations - and if Southern Ground was, to some extent, a testing of the waters, it showed that she still had significant support.
If any of this speculation is justified, it may well be that there will be a fuller tour, even without new material. (So far though, they do seem to have only answered in relation to the London and Dublin dates, and the possibility that that photo was only intended to publicize those can't be discounted)

Based on all the interviews I've read and seen, I would doubt any new material is coming soon. But, they could do what Fleetwood Mac did this year and just release a few songs. It's been 10 years since Fleetwood has released any new material but they've been on three major world tours since that release. Everyone was very, very skeptical that they would release any new music at all, yet here they released a 4 song EP. Maybe it's just wishful thinking that the Chicks could do the same, but I guess anything a possible.

It's been 10 years since Fleetwood has released any new material but they've been on three major world tours since that release. According to Wiki, Fleetwood Mac has released 17 studio albums so it is no surprise that they would have 3 tours since making new music. The Chicks, on the other hand, have made 4 studio albums since Natalie joined the group. I would love to see them in concert for the first time (even though I doubt they will come to Kansas) but if they continue to do tours without coming out with new music, it seems to me like they are just asking to have low attendance at their concerts. Only us die hards would put up with hearing the same old songs over and over. IMO, anyway.

But like I said, they haven't done a whole lot here in the US since their AAA tour. Do we even know for sure that the tour will be in the US? I think that if they are being kind of secretive about it, it probably will be.
