It doesn’t look like the poll was necessary. Candy Land won by a landslide.
All the titles submitted were good one’s, but I chose the one submitted by drizz.
Two questions for our lovely administrator / moderator.
1. I don’t expect people to post in this thread on a daily basis after the newness wears off, therefore could we make this thread a sticky so it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle?
2. Is there anyway to add a feature, with proboards, for putting a poll in a post instead of starting a new thread? I know some forums have that feature.
Share your recipes and food talk here.
Enjoy!

Here's a favorite Holiday snack that I shared in the 'question' thread. Good for parties, too.
SAUSAGE BALLS
1 lb. Jimmy Dean Hot Pork Sausage 3 Jars (5 oz.) of Old English Cheese 3 Cups of Bisquick
Mix together well Roll into balls / approximately 50. Bake at 350 to 400 for 20 min. or until done
Can be frozen and baked later.
I just finished making some. I was able to get 47 sausage balls and it took 25 minutes at 350. I cooked 9 and froze the rest.

Chili Verde:I change the proportions every time, but if you want amounts: 2 lbs pork roast 1 lg can of green chilis (Anaheim - Ortega) or about 6 fresh. 1 lg can of tomatillos or about a basketball size bag of fresh (on fresh, remove outer sacks & wash well). 1/2 onion. 1-3 jalapenos - fresh is best. A bunch of cilantro (a bunch - as sold in store). 1/2 tsp cumin. Salt to taste (1/2 tsp??) Cube pork. Add to large sauce/stock pan. Add Chilis Chopped. *** Add Tomatillos pureed or finely chopped. Add Jalapeno finely chopped. Add onion chopped. Add cumin & salt. Add 3/4 of the Cilantro stemmed and chopped. Add water to barely cover. Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer. Cook until pork is tender (can cook longer for better flavor). Add remaining Cilantro 10 minutes before done. Serve with Tortillas & Refried Beans (rice if desired). *** If using fresh chili's, to prepare, put chili's under broiler turning until skin is blackened all the way around. Then put into a paper bag for 10 minutes. Take them out of the bag and remove all skins. Cut out stem & seeds. Chop & add to pork. You can add or delete certain ingredients but must have chilis, tomatillos & pork.

Sloparoni and Cheeseingredients and utensils needed: -stove (microwaves use an alternative recipe) -one safely sealed box of macaroni n cheese (i.e. Kraft) -one large sauce pan -any water source (except a toilet) -tablespoon of milk -one clean tablespoon -one strainer -one "claw spoon thingie", which looks like a drainable deep spoon with forks -generous slice of butter or margarine -lots of napkins on the stove: 1:: Bring to a boil a large sauce pan filled at least half-way with fresh water over the stove 2:: Lower the flame. You may enhance recipe by letting an excess amount of boiling water evaporate from the pan 3:: Pour in dried macaroni noodles, or whatever noodle styles desired. 4:: ( KEY STEP #1) With flame at medium, seldomly stir noodles while they cook so as to not leave them loose and firm. -----This can be best achieved by multiple methods...... .............1. falling asleep in a chair reading a book while cooking .............2. start watching a TV program till it is over .............3. basically, just forget the noodles in pan are cooking on the damn stove 5:: Check nooodles for extreme softness. When noodles are softened to a destructible state, remove from flame. 6:: With a large "claw spoon thingie", gouge and scrape noodles to a free floating state from the bottom of the waterpan as noodles will be tightly clumped at the bottom. 7:: Pour entire contents of pan into a large strainer to drain noodles. (rinsing noodles with water is optional) 8:: Witha large tablspoon , scrape out stuck noodles from the bottom of the pan and place into strainer as well, even though they are going right back into the pan. 9:: Return strained noodles to pan. At the table...... 1:: Prepare cheese mixing table. 2:: Add a tablespoon of milk for added ease of stirring. 3:: ( KEY STEP #2) Although most macaroni meals truly only need a half- packet of wet or powdered cheese mix, for Sloparoni it is advised to use the entiiiire packet. A second packet may be used if a kid says "Hey grandma, make it cheesy!". 4:: Pour entire cheese additions into the pan all at once to make stirring more challenging. Stir. good luck. 5:: Add butter as desired to moisten the already heavily moistened noodles while stirring in cheese. 6:: (optional) For added texture, leave several clumps of unmixed cheese-powder balls in the noodle mix. 7:: Serve and enjoy. **This meal was founded and perfected by my kids' one Grandmother. I used to think it was a ditzy creation, but over time it has instead become widely famous. Only she can do it best.

^^^ I just lost my appetite. Just kidding!
I'm keeping it simple tonight. Ham & beans, fried tators & cornbread.
Question! How often do you use a crock pot, and do you own more than one. I use a crock pot at least once a week and I own two. One oblong and one tall and deep.

I use it a couple times a year. Beef stew. 1/2 the time hubby makes beef stew in a big pot - the other 1/2 I do it in the crock pot. I have made the chili verde recipe above in the crock pot.

never used a meat hammer Boob.
Stromboli
2 loaves frozen bread dough put into separate gallon ziploc sprayed with non stick cooking spray. Put them on your counter before work in the morning to come to room temp when you get home from work. On a floured surface roll each loaf (one at a time) into a rectangle about as wide and long as a cookie sheet. On rolled dough brush with olive oil, pepper, garlic powder, basil, oregano and red pepper flakes (if you like spice, if not feel free to omit). Brush dough with your favorite pizza sauce. Add pepperoni and mozzarella cheese over dough surface. Starting on one side, roll towards yourself, like a jelly roll. Pinch ends under each other and carefully place on cookie sheet seam side down and make sure ends are tucked. Follow same for remaining dough. Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with basil or Parmesan cheese. Bake @ 350* for 30-45 minutes until browned. Remove from oven and let cool a bit. Slice into pieces and serve with salad. I have never met a soul that didnt love this and of course you can make more than 2 loaves. I would only put 2 on a baking tray and use foil sprayed w/cooking spray, then you can just throw it away and not have to clean a pan!
I have used Canadian bacon too but when I tried sausage(pre-cooked of course!) it was really greasy. Also veggies are too wet and dough doesn't bake well. Sorry, no healthy versions available!

The 'Long Suffering' has bought 'Sweet Potato' which we've never ever had before. Any suggestions? We'd like to try an 'American Angle' on it.

Goat Cheese Dip
One log of goats cheese (plain is best. I think they call it Chevere, maybe that's a brand?) One jar of pesto (preprepared - wet) One sm jar of sun-dried tomatoes - chopped
Layer cheese, pesto, tomatoes, repeat. Serve with crackers (wheat thins are my fav w/ this dip)
Seriously, this is REALLY good. You can put into a sprayed mold (jello or otherwise).

Sweet potatoes, or candied yams as we call them here in the southern US, are usually a dish served at Thanksgiving & Christmas. Personally I don’t like them, but here’s you a recipe, Tony.
Sweet Potatoes With Marshmallow Cream Sauce
2 or 3 pounds of sweet potatoes 1 tablespoon light margarine 1/3 cup evaporated skimmed milk 1/4 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla
Marshmallow Sauce
4 tablespoons light margarine 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 3/4 cup light brown sugar 1/2 cup water 1 cup miniature marshmallows
Place sweet potatoes in a large pot, cover with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook until tender. Peel potatoes and place in mixing bowl.
Add margarine, evaporated milk, sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Spoon into 2-quart casserole dish.
Make Marshmallow Sauce:
In a small saucepan, melt margarine. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add brown sugar and water, mixing well. Add marshmallows and continue cooking over medium heat until marshmallows melt and sauce thickens. Pour Marshmallow Sauce over sweet potato mixture.
Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Mrs. KFC likes her yams baked in the oven with butter and brown sugar added to taste.
Another crock pot recipe I tried this weekend:
3-4 lbs of chicken wings, drummettes or drumsticks 5 oz bottle of Try Me Tiger Sauce 1/2 cup of melted butter 2 tsp of paprika 2 tsp of dried mustard 2 tsp of chili powder 1 tsp of salt 2 TBS of worcestershire sauce
Broil chicken 10-15 minutes each side and place in crock pot mix all other ingredients for sauce and pour over chicken Cook 2-3 hours on high or 4-5 hours on low in crock pot.

I'm trying to eat more healthy. Any one got some decent pasta or rice dishes that I could try?. Bow tie pasta. Add anything you want to it like tomatoes, mushrooms, seeds, nuts, cucumbers. Pour Italian dressing over it or your favorite vinegar based dressing. I like it the next day after it's been in the fridg for awhile.

Cook 1 minute stirring constantly. Gradually add milk; cook over medium heat stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly. Stir in salt and pepper. Spoon ¼ cup sauce into a greased 12 x 8 x 2 inch baking dish. Top with half each of potatoes, onions, sauce, cheese and bacon bits. Repeat layers using remaining potatoes, onions and sauce. Cover and bake at 350 for 55 to 60 minutes or until tender. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and remaining cheese and bake an additional 10 minutes. Yield: 8 servings. * Scalloped Ham & Potatoes * Sprinkle 1 cup of chopped cooked ham over each layer of potatoes (total 2 cups of ham). Forgo the bacon bits if making scalloped ham & potatoes.Serving suggestions: Serve with purple hull peas, cornbread and fried okra. < That’s me talking. ---------------------------------------- This is what I’m cooking for dinner tonight. Some people ask why a single guy would go to all this trouble. One, I like to cook. Two, it might be a lot of food for one but I don’t mind leftovers. Edited to add:I forgot the bread crumbs. Listed above now.

Heck yeah TWC. Cook what you like. That's my motto.
Mrs. KFC is the pasta and rice queen. She bakes and boils stuff.
KFC fries it in lard or grills it over charcoal most of the time.
Here's another good potato recipe:
Ranch Potatoes
Cube 2 or 3 pounds of red potatoes and boil them until tender. Mix 2 cups of sour cream with 2 cups of ranch dressing and 16 oz of shredded cheese of your choice.
Place potatoes on the bottom of a casserole dish and pour the sour cream mixture over it and poke around so that all the potatoes are coated. Sprinkle some more shredded cheese and bacon bits on top and bake at 350 for about 45 minutes or until the cheese on top changes color.
