One song - two virtuoso performances! You Tube is full of home videos of enthusiasts performing their own covers of classic songs - but perhaps few would attempt a song like "Ruby"! Here's a guy that takes it on - and the instrumental part is pretty amazing! And to hear a recent professional performance of the vocal to this notoriously difficult song, listen to Amber Collins, frontwoman of the young Bluegrass band, No Speed Limit. This girl puts thousands in the shade! It's the second number on their MySpace page www.myspace.com/nospeedlimitva

The Everly Sisters again (to wit, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris, a.k.a. the Mutual Admiration Society of Country Rock), this time performing Jackson Browne's "For A Dancer", in memory of their fallen friend Nicolette Larson:

Though I prefer the acoustic guitar version (to this electric/distorted version) - it's nice to see the guys so hot.......oopps......I mean so young.

One of the greatest maritime tragedies in modern American history occurred on November 10, 1975, when the Edmund Fitzgerald, an iron ore ship, ran into a violent storm on Lake Superior and, for reasons unknown, broke apart, sending its crew of twenty-nine men to an icy underwater grave. That incident was forever immortalized by Gordon Lightfoot in his epic 1976 hit "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald", which forms the musical backdrop to this slide show commemorating the tragedy:

Linda doing "I Can't Help It" from an HBO special she did in 1980. You can tell, because she has a very short "punk haircut." But she's still an Arizona cowgirl at heart:

For sheer nostalgia, this is hard to beat!
A rather young-looking Dale Watson proving that there'll always be Western Swing:
(Includes a rare guest appearence of Son and Sammy Geezinslaw around the 1.57 mark)

Both Dusty Springfield and Dionne Warwick recorded this song back in 1964 (and tremendously well), and in 1993, so too did Linda. Here's the Tucson Temptress performing "Anyone Who Had A Heart":

Björk covered it live accompanied by the Brodsky Quartet at Union Chapel, London, UK on December 9, 1999. Too bad it's not available on youtube.

I love hillbilly music..........I meant no disrespect toward your neighbors TWC. I grew up in an area full of hippies & rednecks........there was lots of intermingling...... Hippy + Redneck = hillbilly ??

No disrespect taken. I can deal with the hippies. Some say I used to be one. Some say I still am. Red necks is a different story. They should be shot. Ok, that was a tad extreme, but I have no use for red necks.
