"The World Smiles" and "Phoebe" are my favorites. Maybe because they are the ONLY TWO with Banjo. What the hell?

Love The World Smiles so much! Still not done listening…been at work all day. Phoebe is so Emily and Martie. I've heard them play this in concert at least once, maybe twice.

Kind of like The Road You Take. All in all I like it OK, but as with the last album, just OK. I will buy it, but probably won't be playing it as often as I play old Dixie Chicks albums.

Awesome, can't wait to listen. I know I liked Watch Your Step live in concert. I called it" funky". Eta: I DO like the live version better. Oh well. Its more groovy than the studio version. Especially with how the bass riffs mixed with the drumwork.

"The World Smiles" and "Phoebe" are my favorites. Maybe because they are the ONLY TWO with Banjo. What the hell? If you get to see them play live, Emily is diverse with the instruments. I think she incorporates the banjo into songs where it's less existent on studio. The rhythm guitar or steel as well. Martie certainly adds more fiddle. Gives me an idea for a t-shirt the next time I see them play..."More Banjo!"

I really like the album. It's not outstanding but I really enjoy listening to each song. I wonder why they changed the title "When You Wake" to "Divided". I assumed "Are You Man Enough" was on the cd since it was a promotional single. I hope it's a bonus track since it's one of my favorites.

As a first (perhaps unfair) reaction, I did feel that the pace and mood of the songs, at least in the the early part of the album, rather lacked variety. So far, I do prefer the first album, but I think the songs will repay closer listening, as some of them do seem to have a more subtle edge than is immediately apparent.
"Phoebe", which I've been hoping would get a release, still strikes me as the strongest song - but I hope to give a fuller reaction later.

"The World Smiles" and "Aimless Upward" are my two positive affirmation songs of the moment. I'm really glad they wrote Phoebe because the subject matter is really important. All the songs are great, though, really.

I've decided to wait for my CD to come.....I'm not a fan of 'streaming'....I find the sound sometimes feels 'warped'.

I agree Boob. It was more funky in concert. I was a little disappointed with the album track. Oh well. Maybe it'll sound better on CD with the stereo up too. These early soundbytes aren't always the best.

Additionally, the full album stream is also available on Taste of Country, and on the Boot. (This amounts to the fullest promotion yet achieved for the band) The Taste of Country write up includes a pretty definitive re-statement of Martie's quote about the band's intention to be permanent "Make no mistake — the Court Yard Hounds are not a side project for the Dixie Chicks sisters. A new confidence affected the recording, Maguire says. â€I think we’ve approached it differently because we felt like okay, we are a band. We aren’t just two ex-Dixie Chicks anymore, we’re a band and we like our sound and we’re going to continue to do this and hopefully get better at it, and share something new this time around.â€tasteofcountry.com/court-yard-hounds-amelita-stream/

My girlfriend bought the signed copy. It's cool that they're doing that. I'm gonna wait and get the deluxe edition.
