I think I've listened to The World Smiles 20 times today, it just gets better with each listen.

Yea if at least a couple of these songs don't make it to the radio or at least to a movie, TV or soundtrack it would be very disappointing. I can already picture people saying "hey, hear that new Sheryl Crow song on the radio?" Lol

I'm getting my first listen right now and "The Road You Take" is my favorite track after my first go through (Phoebe is currently in 2nd place). Wish it was a bit more up tempo and, it's been said too much, but Emily sounds so much like Sheryl Crow (and sometimes Suzanne Vega) that while I prefer her songs, I like look forward to the Martie leads because it sounds different and unique. I think after a few more listens, I'm going to grow to really love this album and that never happened with the first one. I'd give it a solid B. I can't wait to see them on Letterman. Together or individually or in groups of two, one thing is for sure. Emily, Martie and Natalie are ridiculously talented women and I hope they all keep making music and maybe, one day, they'll realize they have at least one more Chicks album in them. PS-332 posts and I'm still a baby chick?

I tried to stay away from the stream and did so until yesterday. Only listening to it two or three times through, I feel it's stronger than the last album. It has more direction and you can definitely tell their style. Love "Pheobe", but I have to say I think at this point in time that "Watch Your Step" is my favorite. It's got such a 90s Sheryl Crow feel I simply adore it. "The Road You Take" is a great track to end on.
I was going to complain a bit on the lack of banjo, but once you get some headphones on you can hear it better.
Can't form a real opinion until I get used to the songs, but first listen through I'd give it a B+ - definite improvement on the first album. Stronger songs and stronger sound.

"Watch Your Step" is a fav of mine too. And I'm being sentimental when I play it too, because they performed it live so awesomely. They rocked it.
My overall fav has to be "Amelita". Idk, it's tough to rank these. I think I'll fav these tracks in phases.
