PSYCHO The single most influential horror film of the second half of the 20th century. There's nothing like an annual meeting with "Mother"--so long, of course, as you don't take a shower alone (LOL). Props to this portly British figure for having directed what remains a masterpiece of shock and suspense even unto this day: 10/10

"All About Steve" - 1 Even Sandra Bullock couldn't pull it off. It's only a one because it has Bob Schneider and Dan Wilson on the soundtrack.

I actually just watched this a few days ago, and for the first time in a couple years. This time, I shivered throughout again. I actually remember when I first ever seen it and how I was so drawn in till the end, and when the tape stopped and I thought about what I just saw, that was when I teared up uncontrollably. This is the most intense character study I have seen on film, imo, but maybe because I am also a (concerned) parent of a... soon-to-be...13 yr old daughter (whom was 10 when I first ever saw this film), ....with already her own slew of random friends, boisterous spunk and wit, and an indulgence in the atmosphere and materialisms of her peers. All in less than a year's time. So quick. Thirteen portrays the realistic, brisk transformation and potent unravelling of a once conformed preteen girl revolved around a wild new friendship(s) and an estranged relationship with her mom, and dad. Holly Hunter gives a stellar role as the loving yet ignorant and flawed mother. This is a MUST SEE for any mutual parent. The film is very real, as it is very extreme, but in no way far-fetched. Yet, it is not as threatening as how it might come off, but is seriously thought-provoking and a mere awareness alert at best. Some topics in the story might be taken very personally though. One, sadly, I actually can relate to with a friend's daughter. It is no popcorn movie, at all. 10+/10 :::Spoiler alert::: There is a happy ending btw. Mostly.

Nice little review on Thirteen, boob. I read favorable comments on another forum as well. I'll have to put this on my 'movies to watch' list.

DELIVERANCE Four Atlanta businessmen decide to go on a whitewater trip down the wild Cahulawassee River before it is dammed up into a big, dead lake. They should have played golf, instead. Easily one of the creepiest and most unsettling horror films of all times, and not just for the "Dueling Banjos" and the "Squeal!" sequences. 9.5/10

The Astronaut Farmer 8.5/10 “If we don't have our dreams, we have nothing.” The relationship Charles Farmer (Billy Bob Thornton) has with his family, and those precious little girls, is enough to make your eyes water throughout the movie. This is a good family movie. A good movie about the human spirit. About dreams. Too bad the critics couldn’t see that.

Loved the Astronaut Farmer!!
Sunshine Cleaning 6/10 Alan Arkin's role, reminiscent of his "Slums of Beverly Hills" role (never knew he was a singer, composer & writer - according to imdb).
Gran Torino 8-9/10 ?? May have already rated this one, watched again on dvd, since hubby had never seen it.

THE BIRDS The Master's most enigmatic, inexplicable film is this cold, clinical study of a massive attack on the Northern California town of Bodega Bay by practically every member of the avian family. The acting and the special effects may seem very outdated by 21st century CGI standards, but not the coda--it is as disturbing as it is ambiguous: 9.5/10.

God help us!
Horror filmmakers have so run out of original ideas that they need to remake so perfectly enigmatic a film like this! Embarrassing is the only word I can use to describe that notion!
