In addition to unveiling its new "Fest Flag" promotional campaign, Summerfest Wednesday morning announced seven more ground stage headliners for the fest's 2013 edition.
Added to the lineup - without dates or stages attached - were Matt & Kim, ZZ Ward, The Go-Go's, Cold War Kids, 311, Talib Kweli and Courtyard Hounds.
Last week, Summerfest announced more than 60 ground stage headliners, shortly after filling in the final acts for the Marcus Amphitheatre.
This year's Summerfest runs from June 26 to 30 and July 2 to 7. Advance tickets are $15 per day and $8 for a single weekday ticket (ticketholders must enter before 4 p.m.) at Summerfest.com.

Ahhh, minutes from home. A CYH gig I can definitely make it to. Nevermind the Lollapalooza madness in Chicago.

I've become even a little more excited about their Summerfest appearance, now learning their album will release in July. The event falls in the last days of June, early July. Thus I find it very likely they'd treat us to new songs for the album at the show, if they don't already by then elsewhere. Lookin forward. ;D ;D ;D Gonna score front row too, galdengit! Heaven.

Ahhh.....gonna be less of a challenge than I thought. The girls are on Summerfest's opening night at 10pm June 26th on a grounds stage. A Wednesday. Tis where I'll be then ladies and gents. I will definitely try to conjure footage and media to share. What is interesting is how low key they are making their appearance. I mean, c'mon, this is 2/3 the Dixie Chicks! I praise them. Heck on the lineup page I was startled till I scrolled to see them as the very last act displayed for this year. Nothing like sweet surprises. 15 bucks for a shot seeing these bad ass women up front. Nice!!! Daughter and I are bound and focused. I will take the next day off work fo sho. I actually had to coax her a lil. She has become a less enchanted Chicks fan in recent past, diverted by her center of the universe teen life. During that day there is a likelihood Martie or Emily may go laid back, take their kids to see some of the festivities. Just might stumble onto them?? Would be nice. Prior to the late late show.

Don't get too excited about the possibility of seeing them strolling through the festivities. I went to the Taste of Chickago a couple years ago…very early hoping to run into them eating their way through the day, and no luck. They pulled in an hour or so before the show to do a sound check. No food for them! I guess that's how they keep so slim. They don't eat. Anyhow's, it looks like me and a friend or two will be there Boob. So cool huh?! Haven't broken the news to my hubby yet, as I'm just getting home from the concert trip of a lifetime! $$$

Glad to read of your show. Sounz like a plan frann. Hey we could dominate front row. Summerfest isn't just about food, and booze. There's rides and kid stuff to do. I'm hoping they might soiree into that stuff perhaps. If they have their family. However I suspect they would do so earlier in the day and I'd be committing the evening to getting a good spot at the stage.

Milwaukee as of today is expecting rain on Wednesday. I really don't want to sit in the rain. But then again (CYH song) it would be a very private concert for our small group.

Oh nice, I forgot to look that up yet. But for the last couple weeks we've been getting rain when it's not forecast, and not getting it when it is. It's just been sporadic so guess we'll see what happens. Quite like FLA actually.

Hi everyone. Hounds and Sounds yo!! It was....A...BLAST. It was lot easier than I had presumed for to get front row center too. I guess I didn't need the whole day off work. Yeah, Summerfest is a gala. I hope Dee (my favorite girls) had a good time with her friends. We all met up and saved seats about three times over. Hah. They are actually there again today. There is so much music there. Countless free stage acts. That's another thing....to spend only $10 per person to get in and end up seeing these awesome ladies like that. We could have got in for free yesterday if we brought food for a food drive. Shucks. Their performance was magical. It was like they were in my backyard. And not just because of the closeness, but because of the crowd of people, which was relatively small. It was very intimate. People were yelling jokes and requests to em between songs and they would joke right back. It was about 20 people heavy of a true bonfire group....you know what I'm sezzin? I hope they weren't offended. They seemed to be having a blast anyway with our crowd, pretty loyal fans. Hey it was low key and Summerfest can be laid back even on a weekday night. I don't know if they were really trying to promote themselves at the fest perhaps. They had a half an hour of soundcheck issues, but it was compelling to see Martin Strayer getting anxious and agitated at the mishaps. He IS a stage presence. By the time they started the show, Martie's instruments were fading in and out still because there was some sort of wiring difficulties. It was also amazing to watch the girls as musicians, taking control of the audio feeds, giving handsigns to the sound booth stage left and fix the volumes and etc. I was lost but they are just great musicians. Its so great to see them exist still on the stage. So in short it started out as sort of a wing-it unplugged/ plugged performance. We could actually hear Martie's fiddle because we were so close. Everybody was great because we all just had fun with the miscues instead. Best group on the planet. Oh, by the way...we met them!! Yeehaa!! They did a short meet greet autograph session at 7, three hrs before the show. In my shining moment of presence with them, lost in thought, I grabbed my brain and told them. "Thank you so much for keeping on playing. It's great to see yous still making music." I can't remember what they said back across the table but it was a somewhat humble "oh thank you, you're welcome." So fitting, after his they were on the stage later. Oh yeah, Martie and I had on the exact same tee shirts, the 2011 men's tour tee! Lol I told them I had nothing for them to sign except my recently purchased Summerfest cap. Lovely signatures. And I said my shirt is the CYH tee but it's black....then Martie flashed her duds at me. "Oh we have the same shirt!" she said, to which all my dumb brain could think to do was pump my fist like "yeah!". I felt like such a dork. But the tearjerking moment for me was my daughter Cassandra having her moment meeting them. She has been my DCX sidekick all these years. The two concerts, and now to see this one front and center. She was shy. They asked her name. I bought her a Hounds album and opened it and they signed it to her sweetly. Took a pic together. Awesome. One of the funniest and maybe difficult moments was the act that was up before the Hounds. Parmalee. Maybe some of you heard of them. They're just a pretty boy Country Rock band. Kind of a Rascall Flatts. Dee and I had to laugh. It was loud and annoying and we just wanted our Chicks, not the bleacher shaking drunken bimbos lol who were melting over these posers. Cassandra was highly moody...everyone was standing, she was sitting, haha, front row. She was getting a headache from their loudness and wanted to leave and come back. She was mad at me saying that i shouldn't worry about losing seats to all these girls. I really thought they a would stay. But they all left after....so...she was right. ... Daughter..1, Dad...0. ;D Even their drummer was weak. But the Hounds drummer BTW, don't know his name, some black guy, was very sly and did a perfecto job, mixing things up. Of the songs they played, about 12, approx half were new cuts. I gotta say, "Watch Your Step" may become my favorite. It was a funky jam. I even hollered it after it was done. "That was SO funkay!" I hope the heard me right cuz they didn't say anything back. Well it sounds...yknow. ...but others laughed. It's a really good tune, well at least from the stage. All of the new tunes were amazing actually. An amazing spectacle was Emily's twins joining the stage and dancing to the song, uh oh. ...I forget. I think it was "Amelita". They were absolutely cute. They just kept twirling and twirling, Irish style. Earlier on they snuck by the fence to see the Summerfest opening day fireworks which were a roar, just before they took stage. Biggest fireworks melee I ever seen honestly. I know they had to be pleased. Well that is my anecdote of the experience. Tarantino-esque, jumping my chronology all over the place. Dee will certainly come on with thangs to add I am sure. I may too. I might forget something. Pictures too. I will add one also in a while. My daughter has to Bluetooth some to me. ETA::: What I am always going to remember is seeing them walking up to the autograph session surrounded by security, through all kinds of people, who didn't even recognize them, haha. Love it. And as they passed by me just looking at them thinkin, "Wow, wow, wow, that's THEM." And, feeling my eyes swell as I watched my daughter briefly communicate with them lol. After all these years, all the music, all the shows. And, the way they played on and finished their set despite the early problems. The other stages were quieted, people leaving, and they stayed playing. That's dedication. They are true performers, love em.

The way you talk about your daughter's experience just was so touching. <3 Love it! Nice to put a face with the name, even though I think of you as, well, Boob. Lol So nice to have seen them in that intimate setting. What a memory you'll have!

There was a article that said there were only 4 people at the concert for the CYH. Is that true? How can that be? Where was everyone?

What a day! Sorry it took me so long to post this experience but on Thursday we packed up and stopped in Chickago on the way home for a little shopping. And of course, I had to work today. When me and my girlfriends showed up I recognized Boob immediately since we've met previously. Cassandra grew up, not a little kid anymore. Now a full fledged teenager. I too was kinda afraid to leave the stands, for fear a crowd would show and we'd end up in the back row. But as bands would finish, the place would clear out, so I had a bit of confidence we'd get up close again. The meet and greet was nice. Only a handful of fans…maybe 8 or 10 tops. I was in no hurry, let a couple people go before me. Then I spoke with Martie first. I said "I feel like such a dork, but could you sign my backpack?". So she and Em signed it. (Actually, I had no intention of them signing anything. I think it was Boob who told me to have them sign it) I told them I met them at Taste of Chicago 2 years ago where I told them about Nancy being sick. They immediately remembered me! How cool is that! We talked about a twitter...I told Martie I was the one who replied to her recent tweet…Her daughter said "I love life", and my reply to the tweet was something like "That's sweet, but when she's 15 she'll be saying I hate you mom!" Martie said Oh, I retweeted that! She laughed and Emily remembered that tweet too! I told them they were great at ACL Live; Emily asked where I lived. I told her Indiana. I told them Lalapalooza was sold out, that's why I came to Milwaukee. Emily had no idea it was sold out, Martie knew. We took some pictures. I finally downloaded them today. They look great. The show was amazing! Sound check problems like boob mentioned. And sound problems throughout, but the girls didn't let it affect their performance. Hey boob, it was Martie's kids who danced on stage. That was a treat! And Boob mentioned to me how funny that they would dance to a song like Amilita, about a Mexican ****. hehe. But it was such a treat for us. One regret was not getting a set list. There was a barrier between the stage and seats. But I could've asked the guys guarding the stage to grab me one. I just didn't think of it until later! darn! In no particular order here are the songs i remember them playing: Delight: Something New Under the Sun Sunshine Amalita Rock On Aimless Upward The Coast Aint No Son I Miss You A Guy Like You Then Again It Didn't Make a Sound The encore song was Lil Jack Slade. Boob mentioned another song too. ? All in all a great evening with the Court Yard Hounds. And my girlfriends enjoyed it too. Boob thought there were 20 in the audience…i'm guessing more like 40, but who's countin'! Pretty exclusive… !!! I'll post pics on twitter.

Yeah 40 sounds more right. I do feel bad they didn't have a bigger turnout. Would love to hear what they think, no matter what it may be. Oooops, forgot, yeah, those were Martie's. And Harper is her younger who wasn't there. Well not outside. Now in retrospect, kina kicking myself for holding back and not asking them to do a stand up photo with me and my daughter. I tend to do that. I know they would have said yeah. Darn.

Okay, some pics, mediocre quality. But with captions. Hey we were close and could hear.... During the infamous soundcheck... "Okay, Iiiii am on the stage now, so Iiii am in charge. Get those speakers running. I'm ready to jAm!" "Ugggh, is this thing on yet!?!" Finally jammin'... "...Heyyy...eyy....don't rain on my parade..." High notes, all night long, baby! Baaad mutha plucka! Martie: "Hah, I still play my instruments better than you, sis." Emily: "...Listen here!.." (removes guitar) At the meet greet..... Martie: "Some people ARE still buying this CD." Emily: "She just did it to get an autograph on something. Look at that phone!" Cassandra: "I'm in heaven." Emily: "This girl is awesome!" Martie: "Hee hee, I'm with a rock star." Cassandra: "Somebody catch me when I fall." Me: "So kiddo, would you hate HER as my girlfriend??" Emily: "Cassandra's daddy is so hot, I can't even touch him." Martie: "Em you're in my way."

Photobucket, the image hosting site. Make an album there and it gives you IMG links for all your images. If you're on a PC, surprised you can't use the image insert tool here and upload from your computer.
