Very disappointed to hear the CYH will NOT be playing at the Fire Relief Concert. I have tickets, and I probably wouldn't havve gotten them if I knew they weren't playing. I knew there were rumors, apparently they are true. Damn. Hope the Chicks (and Joe, Eric, and Asleep at the Wheel) play enough tunes to make it worthwhile.
Received this email:
Please note the start time has changed from 7PM to 6:30PM. Doors open at approximately 5:30PM for all ticket holders. We encourage you to arrive early as the performances will begin promptly at 6:30PM with Christopher Cross, Terri Hendrix, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, Asleep at the Wheel, Texas Tornados, Randy Rogers Band, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, Dixie Chicks and George Strait. Lineup is subject to change.

From what I've said already, you can probably guess how I feel about this. Anyway, it's a good cause, and the big names on the bill should prove a big draw. I hope those going have a great show that evening!

I found the other posts, have been out-of-the-loop. I guess I understand your concern. My guess is that it's contractual. A conflict of interest. But that's just a guess.

So both the CYH and DCX were scheduled to play?? But now Martie & Em are only gonna play as the DCX?
Hmmm...I would have gone the other route. It would be ore publicity for the CYH and not playing the same old damn songs as the DCX. Been there, done that....why do they keep going back??

I regret it - but like so much else, I'll probably get over it LOL
I wouldn't have wanted the Chicks not to appear though - they're by far the bigger draw, and this is to attract people to a charity benefit.
I just wish the Hounds had kept a slot on the bill as well, to at least showcase who they are and what they can do.
The impression that they'll run to heel every time someone whistles Dixie may not bode well for the group's establishment and longevity - but Drizzletown may have hit the mark - Sony have a big investment in the Chicks, and they may not allow the two bands to cloud the image by appearing on the same bill in two different guises.

But I also wanted to see the Court Yard Hounds as I've made no secret that I'm a huge fan of Martie and Emily. P.S. I'm glad I went, as all the musicians were great. I didn't really expect that, and the show ran smoothly, no long changes between acts. That's what I wasn't looking forward to.
