I've been mostly a lurker on this board but Nancy was always a warm, friendly presence. She will be missed.

You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back or you can open your eyes and see all she's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that she's gone or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do what she'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on. - David Harkins Nice sentiments, thought I would repost again. Peace to you Nancy.

Wish I'd have known sooner so I could've told her how much I appreciated her. Godspeed Nancy, you were one of the best!

Thank you Junichi-san for your warm words. I hope all of you will remember that the Dixie Chicks may have brought you here, but it was Nancy that made this group a family. That is so true!

I too have been away for so long and also missed my chance to tell her just how much she meant to me. We get so wrapped up in our own issues that we neglect those around us.

It's really true. Even though I'm blind, yall haven't given that a single thought. Yall have been extremely kind to me when so many others have ran when they found out about me and my blindness. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I can't believe it! When I joined the board a few years ago I emailed Nancy to request a few dvd's and audio cd's to add to my usual collection...........y'know to get the stuff that couldn't be bought in the shops. Within a day or two it all arrived. I was absolutely over the moon with her response, her speed, and her care for my request.
And this typifies the CRCR family...............................my love for the Dixie Chicks was always there, but my hunger was fed by Nancy's work. Her dedication to us, the members of CRCR was immeasurable.
She was a great lady without doubt, and she brought so much joy to my home I will never ever, ever forget her.
My heart goes out to her family and close friends.
RIP Nancy.

Nancy was always ready and willing to share all the tidbits of news that there was out there. I still have the Christmas card from her. It's just the little things that I keep thinking of. And I keep coming back to read, which brings the tears again.

It was donated by a former poster on this site and my old sidekick around here Jaci AKA whistlindixiecx. But it was mailed to me by the one and ONLY!!! Nancy Atkins and I still have it! RIP NANCY!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. A cousin had epilepsy, they ran from her. Sweety, there is no explaining stupidity, it just is. Blindness, although hard for you, is nothing to be embarrassed about, only something to be dealt with. I'm sorry to hear about the reactions of some very stupid and unfeeling people. Just know that not all people view a handicapped person as someone to be avoided, but someone to be proud of. Remember there are thousands of soldiers, many with much more serious injuries and unfortunately many will be subjected to the same discrimination you feel. You are not alone!!!

Em, I always heard that people who are visually impaired have their other senses accentuated. If that is true, you probably hear things in Dixie Chicks music that most of us don't hear.

Like others, I was so shocked to see this news on Facebook when the Chicks posted their Friday feature.
Nancy's legacy here is immense, and I am forever grateful.
Peace to Nancy, and those dear to her.

I just learned of Nancy's passing and I am so very saddened. I am truly saddened. I didn't know she was sick. She was truly a special person that God put on this earth for not only her own family but her Chicks family. I would never be able to thank her enough for what she brought to us here on this site and for the many occasions she helped me with simple little computer stuff. I had the privilege to meet her. I was in awe of her actually, in awe of her quiet, humble spirit that was so giving to so many people that she didn't even know. A small group of us had lunch with Junichi, through Nancy, and to say it was special is a total understatement. That night, before the concert, I knew she was going to meet the Chicks through Junichi and I was thrilled for her. I honestly can still see her walking up the aisle to her seat after meeting with them with a huge smile on her face and her arms loaded with Chicks goodies! I'll treasure that forever, and there's no one that deserved that more than Nancy. Thank you for EVERYTHING Nancy. Godspeed to you my friend.

I read about this sad news this morning and I just can't believe it, so so sad. And I wish I had logged in here earlier. I've never met her or anything but through this board and the work she did I've always knew that she was amazing person. I appreciate everything she did and her dedication. When I first found chicksrockchicksrule.com I remember thinking how much work the site needed and then I joined the board. I live so far away and I'm so young that I have never had a chance to see the Chicks live and that's why I was and I am so thankful that Nancy had done all the work to share the videos and news. So thank you Nancy for everything and may you rest in peace.

I feel devastated at this news. I want to thank Julie(jno) for letting me know. I havent even been on FB in ages, so I knew nothing of any news here, especially since i been absent so long, from the social inet practically altogether. I simply got involved in life changes and I share marangos sentiments, well said. I am so sorry if i let anyone feel i didnt care! I feel awful that I didnt even know anything had gone wrong with Nancy. God bless you Nancy and everything u did here. I will be in church tomorrow and i will pray for you and yours. I miss so many of you here at crcr as well. You are all true friends and im sorry I havent been like one.
