You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back or you can open your eyes and see all she's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that she's gone or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do what she'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on. - David Harkins God bless you Nancy and may you rest in peace. Wow, thanks, that hit the spot and brought more tears out. Coop, I remember her report on that show, and that pic looks familiar as well. She was so excited to be there, and Junichi played such a huge part in making it happen. It seemed as though she and Junichi remained in contact after that. She made an obvious impact on all of us, many whom have never had the pleasure to meet her in person, and that says a lot about her. It's an absolute shock to me to read this news only a day after she posted about the end. She obviously knew, and still was thinking of others. I am glad she knew how much we appreciated all she did for us fans. To her family: You're in my thoughts as you deal with this painful loss To CRCRers: Lets keep this board going.

The words have all been said, and I too am simply shocked by this news.
Farewell, Nancy, and thank you.

As a follow-up to my last post about Nancy's trip to L.A., the day of the Nokia show she attended was her 50th birthday. Somehow I had gotten a copy of her birth announcement and made a glossy photo of it. Before the lunch, I asked Junichi if he would consider asking Natalie, Emily, and Martie to sign it for her. Of course he agreed and I think she even met them backstage after the show. Once again, our advocate Junichi went the extra mile to give Nancy some much deserved joy just as she has given us over the years with her dedication to us fans. Here is a copy of the birth announcement before it was signed.

Nancy, it was a great pleasure having been in contact with you over the last 4+ years. You were an open minded and highly devoted person who made a difference in life for me.
May your soul rest in peace now, Nancy...

Too many good people dying way too young! I'm happy to have met her and her brother, but that only makes her passing more personal. You will be greatly missed Nancy, rest in peace!

I'm incredibly devastated and saddened by Nancy's passing. And my sympathies are with all of you who are hurting.
When I first began blogging for the Chicks, I had a hard time distinguishing between whether the enthusiasm and excitement I felt was my own or the fans vicariously living through my eyes.
But after meeting Nancy, I knew I was always writing, in part, for her. I never stopped asking questions, taking pictures, or mustering wide-eyed passion because I knew that she would be hungry for an update. If I ever started to feel lazy or jaded, I quickly reminded myself that she would always see every moment as an opportunity to discover or document something knew.
Nancy helped me appreciate how the Chicks have diehard fans who are obsessed (in a good way) and loyal to the end. But unlike whatever image I had of DCX Nation, they are also an incredibly diverse group of people with school, jobs, careers, and families who look to the Chicks for inspiration and come to places like this website for community.
Nancy was also instrumental in helping me to get up to speed on Dixie Chicks trivia, stay on top of all the media sightings, and absorb what "the people" wanted to know and see. There were a few occasions I was under deadline and called her with a quick question. She was like my own 1-800 Dixie Chicks Wikipedia hotline service.
When I think about what made that experience so amazing and special, I think of Nancy Atkins just as much as I think of Natalie, Martie, and Emily.
I'm obviously thrilled that I could play a small role in getting her to finally meet the Chicks in person. If she looked to me as an angel of sorts, then the feeling was mutual.
I hope all of you will remember that the Dixie Chicks may have brought you here, but it was Nancy that made this group a family.

Well,to me this is one of a few Chicks boards that were/are unique, they brought so many people from around the world together. From the original fan club, the Blue Bee,Chicks feet then the new Fan club, then To CRCR,the hard work Nancy did on her own and funded it on her own,to collect so much archive stuff was amazing.never once did she go on a power mod trip on here, never once did she bad mouth anyone. She treated us all with respect,as we did with her. She is certainly one of a very special band of Chicks fans who gave a lot of joy to us all.xxx

Please head over there (or Twitter) and put in your suggestions.

Nancy is watching us all talk about her with a big smile on her face I know it! This site was her pride and joy. I just wish there could have been at least one more Dixie Chicks album with Natalie or at least news that they were getting back together and recording again that she could have seen!!!
