Hurray! According to an email received today, the Court Yard Hounds will be performing in Ottawa on July 17 at Lebreton Flats.
We can race back from southern Ontario where we will be just days before that but clicking on the link to buy tickets leads to great confusion. They seem to require a promotional access code which I do not have. They list another group but not the CYH for that day. And in any case we have seen concerts at Bluesfest in past years at this venue and there has never been a charge to get in. I don't even see how they could enforce charging admission in such a wide open area.
Anyway, I have emailed the Bluesfest organization for clarification.
To be continued...

Okay. Bluesfest got back to me. I don't know how they are going to enforce a paid admission but I ain't gonna argue. Just bought two day passes to the Lebreton Flats concerts for July 17. This incluces the CYH.
Yippee!

The girls will be performing in less than four hours but already things are not going well for us. The original plan was to get down to Lebreton Flats by noon and just camp out there for the day armed with our own food, drinks, umbrella agains the sun, etc. We would be there early enough to get near the stage. We would take in the Amanda Rheaume concert at 3 and be all set for 5 when our girls take to the stage.
What we didn't count on was the heat. Up to 34C today with the humidex in the mid 40s, (That's over 110F). Frankly we are too old to be able to withstand so much heat for hours on end. So we'll get down there by mid afternoon and hope we can stand the heat until 5. But I'm sure we won't get anywhere near the stage.

Wow! It was just fabulous!
Maybe the heat kept people away but even five minutes before the CYH came on, the crowd could be numbered in the dozens. We just saw a space at the front, just 20 feet from the stage, barged in and plunked out folding chairs down. As soon as the girls began, the crowd swelled appreciably into the hundreds - hard to tell when you're at the front.
Anyway, I'll report back when I've got the photos processed. Could be a little while. This concert came at the end of a week's vacation.

We just had a violent electrical storm with winds up to 140 kph. The main stage at Bluesfest, the stage the CYH performed on, collapsed. No word on injuries or worse yet.

Thanx for the great reporting, ile. This just made the national news. Apparently no one was seriously injured.
I watched the storm through our dining room window. I don't think I have ever seen such strong winds. Next door's maple split in two and came crashing down.
It is hard to believe that a site of such joy could instantly turn to such horror. I will post happy pictures of the concert in a few days. We count ourselves lucky to have escaped unscathed.

So the stage collapsed after the show and CYH performed? Yes. The CYH finished at 6 p.m. The stage collapsed at 7:20 p.m.

I've been seeing this on the news and death cab for cutie, who were supposed to be the final act to play, were tweeting about it while it was happening. Scary stuff. Glad no one was killed.

CYH just posted this on Facebook: Freaky that they were standing beside the stage when it happened. Thankfully they're alright. They must still be pretty shaken though.

So that is where the CYH were after their concert. My wife and I hung around near the tent where artists go to give autographs and sell their wares. Amanda Rheaume went there and signed her album for a long line of people. But I noticed there was no CYH memorabilia or albums in this tent, and no Martie or Emily either, so after a few minutes we left for home.
Anyway, I thought they would have been long gone by the time the stage collapsed. Wow! They were lucky not to be hurt.
A bit of good news: apparently there were four people who were hospitalized after the collapse. They have now all been released.

I am glad no one was injured! I am also surprised that the concert organizers would let a storm come slugging in without warning patrons and closing the event until it had gone by. With nearly every human in North America carrying a cell phone with internet access, there is no excuse for the organizers having not kept a constant eye on weather radar. This is my link I have bookmarked: radar.weather.gov/Conus/centgrtlakes_loop.phpIt saved us from getting soaked at 1:30 yesterday by what may have been the same storm that swept across Ontario. Dark clouds were coming, a quick check of the radar showed heavy thunderstorms to the west sweeping across Michigan directly at us. Twenty minutes later the lightning and high winds were on us. We were buttoned up nicely in the house. Organizers need to be more prepared and armed against the weather. It is their responsibility.
