i've just been listening to the newest cd issued of the late Eva Cassidy's recordings . . . this 2008 cd is titled "Somewhere" . . . Eva possessed a magical mystical voice that intertwined with and tranformed itself into whatever song she was performing . . . on this cd Eva has a very moving rendering of "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain" that stands out . . .

I hate the girlfriend song for sure! hated them too until I heard the song on the radio (not knowing who was singing mind you) and said " I love this song!!" to my 14 year old. Who I must say, laughed like a hyena and said "MOM!!!! THATS THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS!!! YOU HATE THEM!!!" see what I mean? the song is catchy, what can I say.

Just went to listen at youtube. Does she say "when I grew up, I wanted to have boobies?". OMG.....ahhhahahhaha. But the girlfriend song makes me CRINGE. Ain't too many songs that make me squeeze my eyes shut and wanna die just so I can stop listening to them. Doesn't change my opinion of Billi though, I luvs her. I listen to weird shit too Billi......

94 FM rock station. When I go out to the garage to have a smoke or work on my model airplane. I just love the 60's and 70's rock. AC/DC, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith etc..
As I've already stated, I don't really care for Country music, most of it is like today's rock and it's boring and musically lacking.
Bob or Bingo asked why I like the Chicks but don't like Country. My reply really should have been: Well I am a Misfit!!!

It's Linda at the very dawn of her career in 1967, largely as a team player here with the Stone Poneys, though it's hard to mistake her voice even at the age of 20 (going on 21). This compilation of the two Stone Poneys albums, plus four tracks from a third album that was in fact a de facto solo project, has, of course, her career-establishing 1967 folk-rock classic "Different Drum." At thirty-two minutes, there may not seem to be much music here, but this superb Jerry Goldsmith score to this much-underrated (if still somewhat historically inaccurate) 1967 Western about Wyatt Earp is extremely flavorful, and does capture a lot of the (pardon the humorous pun) "wide open spaces" of the West.

Two interesting albums have just been released: Kate Campbell: "Save the Day" Bleu Edmondson: "Live at Billy Bob's" Kate Campbell should appeal to folk who like perceptive, and sometimes mystical, lyric writing, with an Old Time feel to the music. She has guest appearences from John Prine and Nanci Griffith, and also keyboard work fro Muscle Shoals legend Spooner Oldham, who recently toured with the Truckers. Here's the link the the streaming thirty second samples: www.emusic.com/samples/m3u/album/11281188/1.m3uAnd here's a page where Kate discusses some of the songs: www.katecampbell.com/bio.htmlAt the other end of the spectrum, Bleu Edmondson performs Country Rock. Bleu works with LLoyd Maines - and he's one of the most expressive lyricists in contemporary Texas music. Here's an example:
