Any Harry fans on here?. I think Harry is one of the greatest songwriters America ever produced. Every one of his song tells a story. I love What made America famous, Sniper, Taxi, Cats in the Cradle, W.O.L.D. There really isn't a Harry song that I don't like. He died way too young. He had so much more to give. His work on social projects was amazing as well. He really cared about his fellow man. Harry is one of my heroes.

Yeah I am. Jim Croce too. They died around the same time as I recall.
'Yes we have no bananas, no bananas in Stranton, P. A.!'

I heard a recording of this where Harry said he just kept adding verses to the song. Can I ask did you ever see Harry live or like me, was he before your time?. I've heard people say his concerts were amazing. He used to spend a lot of time talking about song writing and other stuff with the audience.

Quote by slovog re. Harry Chapin and Jim Croce:
Actually, Croce died in a plane crash in Louisiana in 1973; Chapin, as I remember it, was killed in an auto accident out on Long Island in 1981.

Yeah, I thought it was a little closer together than 8 years. I knew Croce was earlier in the 70's. I thought Harry Chapin died in mid to late 70's.
Both have good stuff for your music collection.

Define 'before your time'.........I remember when Croce and Chapin died and I remember exactly what I was doing when Lynyrd Skynrd's plane crashed. I was a freshman in college when Harry Chapin died in 1981, but I never saw him in concert.

Harry is fast becoming my all time favourite singer.

my favorite Harry Chapin song happens to be "All Of Life's A Circle" . . i have a VHS tape of his performing it love where he lets each band member join in leading a verse . . and it's quite an emotionally moving performance . . . i always loved the song itself . . .
i also love "The Last Stand"!! i also have a VHS tape of a memorial concert after Harry's death, where his band performed his songs in tribute . . and his Bass Player played and sang "The Last Stand" . there was not a dry eye in the house! . . what a great song! . .

The Last Stand is a great song. I hadn't heard Circle before. I checked it out and I love it. Can I ask if John Wallace is one of those that sang a verse of Circle?. His vocal range is amazing.

i know Harry's brother Tom sang a verse . . then his then keyboard/pianist player sang a verse (don't recall his name) . . aand at the end his celloist . . . i can't remember her name (i'd have to check my cd credits to find it) but i recall she had short dark hair . and wore an all white suit . . Harry seemed to get a smile and kick out of introducing her and hearing her sing her part . . .
but at the memorial concert, wow . . The Last Stand just brought out the tears . . .

Harry is still missed. I think that is the measure of the man. He was involved in so many social projects. They still hold benefit concerts in his name today.
