So Lloyd produced some of Charlie's albums - all great and I was just reading that he's also produced a lot of other artists around TX. One that caught my attention was Doug Moreland - anyone ever heard of him? I'm digging it, the song "Home to Me" is really good and also "Heaven or Austin". Lloyd knows what he's doing.

I would love to sit down with Lloyd and just talk music with him. He seems to be very accessible.

So would I Kent! Just to get to ask a few basic questions would be just excellent.

Terri Hendrix is another artist that he's worked with. If you have a chance to go out and see Lloyd and Terri perform, definitely do it. They usually are very accessible after the shows and are incredibly nice. Not to mention that the music is awesome. Our kids absolutely love Terri's children's album.

Doug Moreland has a promotional video with song clips: (I noticed both Western Swing and Tex-Mex influences. There are reminders of the Joe Ely sound too - which was where LLoyd matured his remarkable musical talents, back in the '70s.) On a different note - one of LLoyd's most recent production credits is with Angel Band - a female trio that might appeal to some Dixiefans. Here's a quote from Angel Band's Nancy Josephson on working with LLoyd: "Working with Mr. Maines (he didn't make us call him that) was really something. He created an immediate trust that made all of the work feel collaborative, but with a very clear idea of who was at the controls. I left the last session with this overwhelming feeling that what we were able to get is the best of who we are right now. I'm so proud of this and I'm so, so grateful to be part of this incredible band."You can check some of Angel Band's music on MySpace: www.myspace.com/theofficialangelbandsite

Lloyd also just helped to produce ANGEL BAND, a group I had previously auditioned for. Their music is good - to see them live, you'd need to close your eyes. They are a little overdramatic, well, at least for my taste.
