I had been thinking this for quite a while now but kept putting it on the lomg finger. After reading ED1s post I think it's time we act.
If we all make a serious effort to request the Dixie Chicks on radio stations throughout America we will see some results. (As Ed1 said: if the free republic can do it...)
I'm not too sure how this works but my idea is that anyone who would like to volunteer to help request the chicks on a regular basis just post in this thread that you'd like to take part and also where you're from (if you live in the US).
In about two weeks or so I'll gather all the names and divide them into groups. From there I think I'll use the link ED1 posted with all the radio stations and divide those stations among the groups.
Ideally each person in the group would request the chicks daily (if at all possible) on each of the radio stations on their list. Even if you're not going to be able to request the chicks daily but would still like to contribute please put your name down!
For those fans outside the US....like myself, I'll make a seperate list of stations where you can vote/request on their website and also ones who have the facility for people to listen live from outside the US....so we can email these.
I'm really making this up as I go along...I was a member of Carrie Underwood's FC last year and they did something similar to this (and I have to admit it worked!) If anyone has any ideas to make this system work better please feel free to comment...like I say, I'm not at all experienced at this.
If we get enough volunteers this should take just 15 or 20 minutes daily for everyone...I think.
I really feel that if we all work hard enough we can get the chicks back on the airwaves.
Bear in mind that there are a lot of new artists out there who have brought a lot of new and younger fans to country music...if the chicks start getting some radio airplay who knows what might happen?

Dcxfanatic thanks very much for putting your name down. Yes quite a lot of requesting/voting can be done on the internet. So if you're able to do it that way that's perfect.

If it means hearing the Chicks in Ireland or anywhere count me in! I actually requested them on a local station yesterday...it plays some pretty good country music Mon-Fri from 1 - 2.30 if you fancy listening to it Irishchickfan. It's mid west radio...you can listen online. The dj loves the chicks...he plays them pretty regularly. He played Long Time Gone yesterday... As for this 'plan' getting them airtime in Ireland I think we might have to concentrate on the US first. Alos I was listening to today fm recently and Ian Dempsey played the Rascall Flatts...he was fairly plugging them!

Yes.com is a great way to figure out who is playing them. I've randomly emailed stations in DC, Chicago, etc. that play them and thanked them. It's all about money. If we want to hear them, they'll play them. A little bit of publicity goes a long way. You play WOS a few times on the radio, and a younger generation will start calling in and demanding it. On YouTube, you see a lot of fans commenting on how they used to listen to the music when they were little (read 5-10 years old, thanks to their moms/older sisters) and now via YouTube they are re-discovering the music. That's why I've continued to post videos. You also see a lot of Taylor Swift fans liking the Dixie Chicks' older stuff, mainly because Taylor is a fan and has recorded some of their songs. CMT's Greatest 100 videos had a huge impact on YouTube. Goodbye Earl and Without You had a huge surge in listeners. The songs with vidoes on YouTube are also the Chicks' biggest sellers on iTunes. (Yes, I'm an iTunes and YouTube addict... ) I'll see if I can work on a webpage to start this movement that has all the online radio links... I really need to change jobs. The law isn't all that exciting...

We have only one station in the Bay Area that plays country that I know of. I heard CTMA a couple of weeks ago. I occasionally check to see if they are playing the Chicks but don't listen regularly to know how much they play them. I was excited though to hear the first song I ever heard by them.

I agree totally with you ED...it's all about money and publicity. If we can get enough people requesting the chicks on the radio I really think it will make a difference.
Maybe the best thing to do might be to just concentrate on a certain area first to see if it takes off....maybe an area that has a lot of country stations. If it works there then we can expand....and eventually take over the world!

Brain: Same thing we do every night Pinky, TRY TO GET THE DIXIE CHICKS BACK ON THE RADIO! MWUUUAAAHHHHHHAAAHAHAAA!
I emailed Dublin's Country Mix saying that we were trying to get the Chicks played more and even though they dont have many problems being played here a few more spins a weeek would make a difference!

Count me in! I've requested them many times before on our 2 country stations and nothing, but I'll try again. One of the stations is losing a DJ, so maybe the replacement will be more willing to play them.

Is anyone in the US having any luck yet? I was finally able to get through to one of the country stations today, I requested WOS and CTMA with 2 different DJ's and still nothing. I emailed both country stations aswell and have not received any responses back.

I had an appt early this morning, so I decided to request CTMA on the early morning show....I was told that the Chicks were blacklisted from country radio (with a chuckle from the DJ) and they would not play the Chicks! So, I guess we can defiantly add the country stations in Reno to the list of those who refuse to play the Chicks. So much for wanting to hear good music. I guess that's why I own a Zune.

Just a quick post to say that Wogan has just played NRTMN on Radio 2 in the UK - the first time that I remember him playing the Chicks for a few months now. Sadly, he had to cut off the ending because it would have clashed with the news Nonetheless, he did comment, as he was talking over the end of it: "Wonderful record by the Dixie Chicks. A great retort to George Bush". So, it's party time once more for those of us in the UK. You're all invited to my gaff. Don't forget the booze this time, though!

Someone else said he'd cut off the Chicks with a song earlier this year........................Mmmmmmmmm is this deliberate? I might just have to go and have a word 'in his shell like'!

Great idea lets do it the Chicks radio ban has gone on long enough and who cares what the bashers say let them whine and call the radio station and yell. They don't have to listen this is for the great and talented Dixie Chicks and us fans. ;D

I don't know if i'm too late for this, but i think it's a great idea and i'll do all i can to request them on radio here in the UK and via the internet on American radio stations. If the Free Republic could get them banned by getting a few retards to bombard stations with complaints then we should be able to do the same in reverse (without being retards). I suggest that everyone leaves loads of comments on the various station's websites under as many different names and email adresses as possible - that will trick them into thinking there are more of us than there actually are. Enough time has passed now for a new generation of listeners, who weren't involved in the 'incident', to discover and fall in love with the Chicks. But we have to kick-start that revolution! So add me to the list if it's still happening, and send me a bunch of radio stations to work on lol

It's been a HUGE week on BBC Radio 2 for the Chicks. I just heard Wogan play Landslide (although, once again, we didn't hear all of it, as his "messing about" in the studio meant that it had to be cut chort for the news! : , and a couple of days ago Sarah Kennedy played There's Your Trouble. Bob's kindly agreed to host the party for UK members this time. I'm bringing the cocktail (bloody word censor!!!) sausages....
