On CMT's Top 100 greatest videos the chicks reached #36 with NRTMN! And no rude comments were made! Sara Evans, Eric Church, and Jason Michael Carrol actually like NRTMN. Infact they LOVE it! Trace Adkins said as introduced this song saying "And there's just some that piss you off." One of the commenters said the black ink/paint was like the dirt they couldn't get rid of. I'm really sure Jason Michael said it. Just thought that it was awesome they were on that list.

I'm not surprised that Jason Michael Carroll liked it (he's worked with Robert Earl Keen, and shares a producer with Pat Green and John Mellencamp - some of that Chick love has got to rub off!) Sara Evans was formerly married to a Conservative Republican - but that didn't stop her saying she thought the backlash against the Chicks was "ridiculous". As a song, NRTMN seems right up her street. I don't now where Eric Church stands - his song "How 'Bout You" can be given a Right-wing interpretation (but can also be seen as just a "small town" anthem). Anyway, he's a "new traditionalist" - and those guys tend to like the Chicks' music. And they probably have more sympathisers in North Carolina than they may have left in Nashville. Trace Adkins and the Chicks "ought" to find some common threads they can enjoy in each others' music. For some reason, though, I think Martie made some comment about his song "Honkytonk badonkadonk" - but he didn't make a fuss about it, probably taking it as a joke. Trace seems less than crazy about Pres. Bush - which may be a factor.

Did any of their other videos make the list? I happened to catch the top ten and Goodbye Earl was at #7. I'm sure there had to be others on the countdown...

Ready to Run had to be on that list!! I hope. That video alone turned me into a bigger fan. And I'm not one to respond to videos.

Hurt was the dumbest video.... Woee, woe, whoooaaaa! No, no, Johnny Cash deserves more respect than that. You have to understand the song to understand the video. btw, I tried responding to your message but it told me I wasn't allowed to. .

But not on the list....screw them. oohhhh myyyy goddddddddd.....I can't believe you don't like the video Johnny made for Hurt......it seriously makes me cry every time I see it....I honestly never thought I'd find a single person who followed country music who would have thought another video besides Hurt belongs at the top. Oh, and personally, I think Landslide was one of the Chicks weaker videos. Not as bad as some have claimed, but I would have expected at least WOS, LTG, TOTW, WOY, and GBE, to be ahead of it.

When any video is judged, there are likely to be four different factors that people focus on: the video itself, considered as a film the song the performer the amount of exposure the video received and how well-known it is.
In practice, it's probably impossible to separate these elements and work out how important each one was in influencing how people voted.
All of this must have been present in "Hurt" - Johnny Cash's iconic status, the tragic impact of his failing health, and the fact that the song (although it wasn't written for him) did fit the situation so well.
But I think there were also inspired touches in the way the film itself was put together - the lone struggle implied in the focus on him playing the guitar, the cutting in of contrasting images from his earlier career, the sympathy on June's face - the religious images too, which fitted the context, but I suppose might have been less acceptable to some viewers. (The only bit that I thought was less successful was the banquet of food - although I see the symbolism of parting from the "Empire" of worldly glory, I didn't think the table of food quite conveyed that point in the right way)
But all told, I think "Hurt" was a great video.

Landslide was a nice imagery video, a lot like Cowboy Take Me Away... But as far as evocative qualities, there isn't a lot there. And I think it's the most ridiculous look Natalie willingly promoted. Martie is really the only one who I think "Got it right" as far as the look goes...

Glad to hear of these videos in the top 100. Mostly, CMT and the country music community have seemed so out of it, so it's good they seem to have music talent and video greatness, front and center, for this list.
