The man everyone (including himself) called The Killer, and one of rock and roll's first true superstars, has joined his compatriots in rock and roll heaven. Jerry Lee Lewis, the piano-pounding wild man behind hits like "Great Balls Of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On", as well as his later appearances on the C&W charts (between 1968 and 1981), passed away today at the age of 87: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/jerry-lee-lewis-dead-obituary-1234616945/Even with later country hits like "What's Made Milwaukee Famous (Has Made A Loser Out Of Me)", "One Has My Name", and "There Must Be More To Love Than This", rock and roll fans didn't totally abandon him, given that his glissando piano licks set him apart from any other artist, rock or country. And then there was his particularly blistering 1972 version of "Chantilly Lace", which just missed going Top 40 on the pop charts. Jerry Lee was a true legend, love him or loathe him, and the likes of him will never be seen in this world again.
