Well, we're not even through the first full week of 2022, and already Hollywood has lost two titans of the industry in less than 24 hours. Peter Bogdanovich, the director of THE LAST PICTURE SHOW, WHAT'S UP DOC, and PAPER MOON, passes away at 82: www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/peter-bogdanovich-dead-last-picture-show-1235070769/And then...well, damned if we didn't lose an acting giant. Sidney Poitier, the first African-American to win an Oscar for acting (in 1963's LILIES OF THE FIELD), passed away this morning at the age of 94: www.washingtonpost.com/local/obituaries/sidney-poitier-dies/2022/01/07/01ba4ea0-c189-11ea-9fdd-b7ac6b051dc8_story.htmlTwo more reminders (as though we should have needed any) of our own mortality, I guess.
