Great news! Hope it doesn't get postponed a second time. I hope it doesn't either. Though I want to take Natalie at her word though when she said it was a post production issue LOL.

🎵Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya, tomorrow! You're only a day away!🎵
I sang this in my head all day today, since it's such a rare and special occasion. I don't hear people shooting off fireworks yet, but maybe once it gets closer to midnight...

These three women seem different to me compared to the actual album I bought today at Target.

These three women seem different to me compared to the actual album I bought today at Target. Do you mean Martie, Emily, and Natalie have matured and changed? I want to know more of your thoughts!

I know that part of what I'm saying has to do with the new music. I feel less joy from them. The interviews I've watched seem to be more serious. It could be from what is going on in the world. Maybe I'm crazy but especially Martie. She just feels different to me.

I bought my copy at a local independent record store in Pasadena yesterday.
I probably have to listen to it a couple of more times before I can give a true assessment. At this moment, the title track and "March March" are the two biggies on it for me.

This was from a Rolling Stone article talking about Natalie's appearance on Howard.
"With their contract at Sony fulfilled by Gaslighter, the Chicks are essentially free agents, open to all potential record deals — but they likely won’t self-release their next album. “We’ll allow Sony to put an offer out there. We’ll field offers and weigh it against [releasing albums] ourselves, which I don’t think we would do.”"

As of my second hearing of my copy of Gaslighter, I'm willing to give it four out of five stars, and avoid overt comparisons to its predecessors.
I think there is a wee bit too much "production" (electro-beats, etc.) on it, although that can only be laid at the feet of Jack Antonoff; and perhaps it could have benefitted from some of the more natural drum sounds of Taking The Long Way. It also seemed to me, though that, Emily and Martie were instrumentally out front, not only in terms of fiddle and banjo, but Emily bought back her Dobro skills as well. And "March March" may well be up there with "Not Ready To Make Nice" as what I guess would be called a Statement Song of the 21st century.
I'll give a fuller review after, I guess, the third or fourth time around, because I think it's important to have a more nuanced impression of this album, rather than a knee-jerk reaction (like so many out there with seventeen year-old grievances have given).
Having said that, though, here's a thought of the day about the Chicks: Once they were Bushwhackers, and now they're Trump Roasters (LOL).

Oh God, if they waited another 14 years to release another album, I'd suggest that they just throw in the towel. I don't have that kind of patience anymore 🤣

Maybe I'm crazy but especially Martie. She just feels different to me. I could be that Martie is almost 51 years old. These are women who have matured beyond the 20 and 30 somethings there were over 20 years ago. Time, age and life will change you.
