Another loss in the music business: Bonnie Pointer, one of the original Pointer Sisters, has passed away at the age of 69: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/bonnie-pointer-dead-pointer-sisters-obit-1011816/Though the Oakland-based sister group was known for their combination of R&B and jazz, the Pointers also pulled off an incredible coup in the fall of 1974, when "Fairytale", which Bonnie and her sister Anita wrote, managed to chart at #37 on the C&W chart (!!) and #13 on the Hot 100, making them the first African-American group to breach the country-and-western genre, and paving the way for Rhiannon Giddens and Mickey Guyton.
