It was a tough game for them, being down 20-10 to the San Francisco 49ers; but after having scored three straight unanswered touchdowns in the final six and a half minutes, the Kansas City Chiefs have won Super Bowl 54 going away, 31-20. It is only their second Super Bowl win, with their first coming in Super Bowl 4 on January 11, 1970, a gap of 50 years and 22 days!

Lots of Chiefs fans here in Wichita. Not much of a football fan myself, but I'm happy my people are happy. My uncle threw a Superbowl party after being out of the hospital just a day before. He has been having heart problems since he was a kid, having his first of many heart attacks when he was just a teenager. When it was all over, he seemed to be less excited than everyone else, but I knew he was just holding back for his health's sake. I know what that moment meant for him. He was truly very happy!
It's kind of great to think about. 100 year anniversary of the NFL, and the 50 year anniversary for the Chiefs' only Superbowl appearance/win. Seems like it was meant to be...

And somewhere in heaven, Hank Stram, who coached the Chiefs to their Super Bowl 4 win, must be smiling down on this current incarnation of his team.
