Robin played a big part in the founding of the Dixie Chicks, sang lead on several of the best songs on their first album, and alternated lead vocal with Patty Mitchell when they won Best New Band at Telluride. She certainly shouldn't be left out of any exploration of the band's history. Her vision of how the band should develop was different, and I'm aware that there was bad feeling (which was alluded to rather cryptically in an issue of Chick Chat) - but my own view is that there is usually more than one side to any story. After all's said and done, strong things have been said against all the Chicks over the years, and I prefer to support them all, for their music and the unique contribution they made to the overall story. Robin has continued to perform over the years, in a number of different combinations - her recent band is a trio, the Cherokee Maidens - and if any fans are interested, this is an article about them (Robin is on the left in the photo) Cherokee Maidens

Crazy Robin Macy has gone down hill in nearly every aspect of life and I won’t support her. Cherokee Maidens is a low budget knockoff of the early Dixie Chicks I feel like. Same clothes. Same direction she would have liked to have gone. She’s a nutcase and from what I hear she is on medication for it. Crazy Macy as I call her. What a weirdo
