Amy Wadge - the Welsh Grammy winning singer-songwriter, who earlier mentioned working with the Dixie Chicks in several interviews, has a new EP out. I don't have full track details, but it sells for £6 on her website. The EP is called "Walking Disaster" (which I believe may be in part a reference to Parkinson's Disease - there is a video on You Tube of Amy singing about this tragic condition, though I can't confirm its connection with the EP)
The EP does include a collaboration with Martie and Emily (as worded, Amy's tweet suggests that they appear as performers, as well as co-writers.) There are also collaborations with Dan Tyminski (of Union Station, currently releasing his own album), and Lori McKenna (one of the leading singer-songwriters on the Roots scene, also with a recent critically acclaimed album of her own)

I was listening to radio 2 in the UK this morning and this lady, who is a British singer-songwriter, who has co-written a number of songs with Ed Sheeran, was on the "Tracks of My Years" feature and one of the tracks that she chose was "Travelin' Soldier", so my ears perked up as it is very rare to hear the girls on national radio in the UK and particularly this song! Here is a link to the relevant show, although I suspect that many (if not all) outside of the UK may not be able to open the link, but hopefully anyone can! The song, followed by Amy's comments, starts at about 2 hrs 9 mins.: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0008ylpFor those who cannot open the link, this is what Amy Wadge said about the DCX and the song: "I couldn’t have a list of songs without the Dixie Chicks because I just love them so much and I always said, you know, I made this profoundly arrogant list of people that I wanted to work with after the Grammy win and they were on it and last year I got to write with the two sisters, so not Natalie, but I went to Austin and I went to Texas and wrote with Emily and Martie and I just absolutely loved it and then I released an EP last year and they said that they would do backing vocals, so for a second I was one of the Chicks. You know, I don’t think they realised that I kind of hoodwinked that situation, but they’re just brilliant and they’re a brilliant band and obviously, you know, being female strong, it’s lovely to see what they’ve created over the years and I just love this song." As Bingo has already posted, the EP that Amy refers to is "Walking Disaster" and, although I haven't been able to find out if Martie and Emily co-wrote any of the songs on it (or whether Amy may have co-written songs on an upcoming CYH album??), I found this link regarding Amy's EP which says that "This high quality mini-album opens with the Dixie Chicks flavoured title track 'Walking Disaster' where Amy is joined by Marty and Emily from the band. With its lovely underpinning banjo licks and hand claps this is a real toe tapper "I'm not a fighter, I'm not a lover either and I am a little afraid to punch above my weight so stay down just in case, and try and win you over with a little laughter.....you are going to see me coming.... a walking disaster".": linkThis is that title song on youtube (although, strangely, in the blurb before the comments, no mention is made of Martie and Emily performing on the track!): linkThe other tracks of the EP can also be found on youtube and it appears that the sisters perform backing vocals on 2 of them as below: linklink

How am I just now seeing this??
Here's the song that features Emily and Martie. I'm surprised that their only contribution is harmonizing vocals. No instrumentals. Don't get me wrong, very few can harmonize better than those two ladies, but it seems like a wasted opportunity to not have them play an instrument or two. I had to click through the different songs from the EP to find which one they were on. The title track had me fooled. It definitely has a CYH sound to it. But they harmonized on River. Great song, definitely will buy the EP. Thanks, Bingo!
