Emily's (ex) brother-in-law and his wife, the fabulous Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis, are nominated for Best Album (Cheater's Game) and Best Duo of the year at tonight's Americana Music Awards.

Sadly, this wasn't to be - though the nominations are still a considerable honour.
In fact both the duo award, and the album award (for Old Yellow Moon) went to Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell - evergreen collaborators from the Hot Band days, and now self acknowledged as veterans of the genre (Rodney's comment was "you've shown that we're still standing").
Another big acknowledgement was to husband and wife team, Shovels and Rope, who won both Song of the Year (for Birmingham) and the Emerging Artist award. For those interested in the Roots Country genre - this was the Song of the Year (the song is semi-autobiographical - "a Delta Mama and a Nickajack man, who do have a dog named after TVZ, but child actors play the now adult couple in the video)
OCMS won the Trailblazer Award - completing a remarkable two days for them, as they'd just been inducted as full members of the Grand Ole Opry (Ketch Secor said it was what their journey had always been about)
