Gosh, the last we heard from the girls was back in June (the last web chat). What's up? We know they're working on the album, but a web chat or a simple little comment on their website would suffice. And by now, the album is probably pretty much done…don't you think? Throw us a bone.

The web chats were a great idea (and a new venture for them). But I didn't see them as a year-round thing - more as something they'll do when they have new music to promote.
Kallie asked them whether the web chats will start up again, and they replied: "Emily and Martie are focused on a new album in the studio right now but hoping to have them back up after that!"
I'm not worried about the new album - I think the DC hiatus has made us a bit nervous, but having a second album out about two years after the first one seems pretty much the normal plan.
In the long run, they may have to go independent, but I think there's a good chance Sony will back them again now (as long as they can keep the DC door open). However, Sony can't be expected to give them DC level promotion, and the music has no obvious format target - so they will have to be creative in promoting themselves. For that reason I think there will be more web chats later in the year.

I bet they'll be all over tv like they were last time. Hopefully... this time, they'll pick a stronger single... The Coast would NOT have attracted me if I was a few fan. I don't like stuff like that.lol

Further evidence that the new album is on the way comes from an interview with Tyler Lyle, who confirms that he's been co-writng songs for it (and was very impressed with the musicianship, lol) www.fuelfriendsblog.com/2012/03/07/winter-is-for-kierkegaard-and-mapping-out-these-shining-stars/I think the only reason some of us are a bit nervous about the supposed "absence" of the CYH is a spin-off from the Dixie Chick situation. Because there've been false hopes and rumours about the Chicks for several years, there's a tendency to project the same concerns onto the present situation. But I see no reason for that - the uncertain DC situation arose from a specific set of circumstances (principally, their previous high profile, and the need to reconcile three artists, who had different priorities about a return to music.) It took a long time to come to terms with that, but once the new start got under way, I think it's broadly proceeding in the way I'd expect. As I've said, a roughly two year gap between albums doesn't seem unusual, or worrying. As I see it (barring illness or accident) the only possible delays might be: ...a sudden return to activity of the Dixie Chicks (and I think that's well back in the long grass!) ...a reluctance by Sony to release another album (which would delay things, but I think they'd seek a let out and go on in some other form)

You just never really know in situations like this. Trying to create good art with coherence, and not get all totally tangled up in blatantly commercial considerations, is such a fine line to walk; and while I realize this isn't necessarily the prevailing feeling here, I'd rather have them sort it out, Chicks or Hounds, their own way, no matter how long it takes for them to do it. I'd like to see them get it the way they want, and not put out a cold-blooded piece of product.

Yes indeed - but I don't see any conflict between following their muse, and proceeding in the way that they appear to be doing. I don't think they've ever suggested that there must be an album by a certain date, regardless of what is on it. The signs are, though, that they are indeed working towards a release in the next few months, that they have plenty of songs to choose from, and that they have arrangied collaborations (Amber Rubarth and Tyler Lyle have both confirmed that they are involved on the next album). Martie sounded pretty enthusiastic in her last interview - the signs are that they both want and expect it to be good (and not a rushed, routine product)

Question now is the new CYH album still coming? Martie and Emily seemed to have vanished and there's been no news in months. Then Martie's home was put up for sale with the studio where they were recording this and doing the chats. As always being a fan with or without Natalie is a mystery. They need to be more like other artists and give fans updates about what's going on!!!!

Well, I did get a little worried a few months ago., primarily when they passed up the opportunity to play at the Fire Benefit Concert. I still regret that, as a missed opportunity to establish their identity more firmly with a wider group of fans, in company with some well-known artists. However, in retrospect, I can see there were probably a number of reasons for that (e.g. to make the occasion more congenial for Natalie's return, to give the fans, press and the record label reassurance that the trio hadn't faded away, and to give the event itself maximum drawing power for its charity objective)
As I've tried to say elsewhere in this thread - I think the only reason we (myself included) are a bit nervous about the CYH is because we've had years of uncertainty and unfulfilled rumours about the Dixie Chicks, and that has rubbed off onto the way we think about the CYH.
For any other new group, I don't think the time scale for the new album would seem unusual or worrying. And I don't think they would seem inactive. We've had separate reports from two artists that they've been co-writing for the new album. We've had Martie's interview confirming that they've been in the studio, and will be again, and have a large number of new songs. We've had the San Antonio concert in February.
So I do think there've been reassuring signs that things are on track.
