I don't know if any UK or Ireland friends watched the Country Music evening on BBC4 tonight (if not, I should think it would be available for seven days on the iPlayer)
The Dixie Chicks were featured almost at the end of the second segment, which was a compilation of BBC archive performances. Their song (which was shown in full) was a 2006 studio performance of "The Long Way Around". This recording includes particularly close-up shots of each of the trio - with, IMHO, Emily, in particular, getting the most pleasing shots that evening.
(For anyone interested, the first segment was an interesting historical survey of the music, with early clips, and discussion from various artists and journalists. Contemporary Country was largely ignored, stopping with the Hippie-Redneck fusion, apart from an epilogue on the death of Johnny Cash. The Chicks were not mentioned in this segment, and the film makers appeared to give the impression that Country Music as a rural working class phenomenon had died - though this was contradicted by closing statements from III and Shooter Jennings (representing their forbears) and kd lang (representing her idol, Patsy Cline) .
The second segment included highlights from kd lang, Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge, Crystal Gayle, Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss, Junior Brown (don't miss that one!) and many others, besides the Chicks.
I'm not sure if this will be broadcast in America, though BBC shows are often well featured there.

You beat me to it, Bingo - I was going to post about the show this morning! I missed the first part but was delighted to see the ladies on UK TV for the first time in ages. What you forgot to mention, of course, was that some of us followed up the show with a party that we arranged at short notice to celebrate this almost unique occurrence - Tony nearly fell down the apples and pears, James sang "A Scottish Soldier" and Bob dished out the updated CRCR stats. Eagle got an invite but couldn't make it over from sunny Switerland at such short notice. Personally, I loved the twiglets and blancmange. As for what you got up to at the party, Bingo, it's OK, your secret's safe with me..... Meanwhile, I'd like to wish a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all of my friends at CRCR in a year blighted by the passing of the lovely lady that was Nancy.

Eagle got an invite but couldn't make it over from sunny Switzerland at such short notice. Personally, I loved the twiglets and blancmange. I am truly sorry that I could not make it over to the Island to join the party. Yet, I do not know what you, Alikat, are referring to with regard to sunny Switzerland, as the weather here is currently rather miserable with lots of rain and quite some wind. Meanwhile, I'd like to wish a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all of my friends at CRCR in a year blighted by the passing of the lovely lady that was Nancy. I also wish everybody here at CRCR a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May 2012 be a shining and fruitful year for everybody.

Thanks for your discretion, concerning the party, Alikat . As a matter of fact, I'm not sure I was still on the invitation list, but after a quick chorus of "I'll move on baby, just like you, when the desert floods and the grass turns blue", they realised we had a mutual interest in Al Gore and climate change, and let me in.

That song should get you an invite to any party! ; )

Thanks for posting Bingo!! I didn't get to see it as just before Crimbo I was busy preparing for 10 days in Florida(well actually it was all done by the 'Long Suffering' but I did manage to pack my shaving 'gear'.......) Unfortunately we had to cancel the holiday due to my injuries after falling down the 'apples and pears'!! Yes it actually happened and I probably would have 'kicked the bucket' had it not been for James' quick reactions!! Just kidding everyone!!

Blimey! I bet that you had to sit down for a couple of hours after taking on all that responsibility, Tony... I hope that you enjoyed your hols in the US of A. You missed a lot of wind over our side of the water, and only a very small proportion of it came from my rear end, but that's another story!
