Just stumbled across this picture of Martie and Emily. His name is Charlie Mars - I believe they had him as a musical guest on one of their chats. It looks like he played on the new record. The caption to the picture is this: "me and martie and emily in the studio after recording 'nothing but the rain'. thanks girls!!!" The picture is dated August 24. A new song to add to the list! Wonder what it sounds like...

Thanks for finding that. Charlie Mars is a singer/songwriter from Mississippi, who's released about five albums.
This is probably his best known song, which has been taken up by television and given various studio backing remixes. From this acoustic version, it's not hard to see why he'd be a good musical match for Emily:

here's the CYH singing "nothin' but the rain" with charlie mars on the webchat. it sounds like they're on the album recording of it on his next album according to this tweet from him. twitter.com/#!/CharlieMars/status/106095118423035905

Thanks for the info. (I caught most of the web chats, but must have missed that one)
I'd recommend anyone who hasn't clicked on the video link DCXfan provided to give it a shot. (Emily plays reso, and Martie is the more evident on vocals, which she appears to read from a lyric sheet.) So, yes, it is his song - he seems a good writer, and the style is similar to their own quieter "contemporary folk" styled numbers. A good match if they are guesting on his album.

Oh! Still good news to see them collaborating with other artists as the CYH, not just the Chicks.

I remember when I first saw this I thought it was boring and skipped over it. Am I the only one that did this? I guess I am taking for granted the CYH being so active and us fans having so much to choose from. If it was Nat I would have listened regardless.
His voice is too monotoned for me, the girls sound great though!

I think that Jakob Dylan has a monotoned voice too but it seems to work once the song was laid down in the studio.
