what i really want to ask them is if they sent their last cd to country radio b/c the dj i asked claimed they couldn't play it b/c they did not receive it; but....for some reason i don't see them answering that one, lol.

^ I really wish they would try that with this next CD.... anyone think that is what all those meetings are about?? The Sony people having to approve the songs? Think they might be trying to market country??

You have to upload the video to You Tube (and presumably post the web link on their facebook page, or CYH website). I think the video questions can only be 15 seconds long.
On the question of submitting their album to Mainstream Country Radio, I think they're likely to say what they've said before in interviews - that decisions like that are up to the label, and they're "surprised" that stations don't have it. (Sorry, but I think that's a cover story, and a half-truth at best)
With the first release, Emily made it clear that she didn't want the album seen as "just Country". They've apparently no objection to being considered Country in certain contexts - e.g on Sirius, Canadian CMT or the BBC - but I've so far seen no sign of them wanting a connection with most US terrestrial Country radio stations.

It seems to me, then, that Emily is extremely cynical of what passes for country music, or at least the industry--as well she should be.

I think, back in 2006, she joked with the Heartbreakers about that - they were borrowing a line from a Geezinslaw Brothers song (which had originally been aimed at Garth Brooks): "You call it Country, I call it bad Rock 'n' Roll"
"Long Time Gone" did show disdain for Mainstream radio (they played it anyway, because of the Chicks then untouchable drawing power - but it didn't bode well for many of them finding any enthusiasm to support the Chicks when the chips were down)
In fact, though, the Chicks attitude to Mainstream radio has been ambivalent. Cynical or not - they seemed to have no objection to being Mainstream darlings before the Incident, and still seemed to regret a lost entitlement to that after the Incident. I can't criticise that - it's part of human nature to sometimes want the best of both worlds!

^ Lol. Those were the good ole days. I remember Long Time Gone.... and Landslide... being played almost everyday somewhere. The Chicks IMO were bigger than anything Country Music has these days.

They have always crossed the boundaries. Back in the day Nat sung....crap whats the song. Love Me Like A Man? Its on here at CRCR. It was like ACL??
Anyways...they also did Mississippi which was like light rock to me. And they did that song with Rosie too.
So yep they have always pushed the envelope.
