The verses are lyrically strong and the melody is nice. Not so much the chorus. Overall a pretty good song.

That was good! Much better than anything on TTLW. JMO. I wonder if they know that a certain Icelandic chick has a song titled "I Miss You".

Ooo. I actually like this one. The melody is cool and so are the lyrics. Very much improved from the Coast, IMO.

You can hear 30 second snippets of all the songs on Itunes.

You need Apple software even to sample iTunes - and they don't make a version for my operating system (OK, it can probably be hacked with Wine - but it can't be long before they show up on Amazon anyway)
I'm curious though - are there any gems among the other samples?
(I'm afraid "I Miss You" isn't quite my kind of thing - but I'm really hooked on "Ain't No Son", "Delight" and a couple of the others)

One thing about the album is that most of the songs (NOT ALL) but most of the ones we've heard (don't hate me) have weak choruses. It really disappoints me because the verses are so well done! Most of them are just one line repeatedly sung over and over. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE these songs anyway and I'm even buying two copies of the CD (and more to give to friends/family), but something is just...off. It's almost as if these are not-finished demos. Especially with the horrible GarageBand reverb on the "Then Again" chorus (major lol's).

Especially with the horrible GarageBand reverb on the "Then Again" chorus (major lol's). I'd rather have Garage Bands with a bit of reverb than too much Nashvegas polish, though! LOL I do prefer "Then Again" to "I Miss You". I think "Then Again" is a better showcase for Emily's songwriting, and I like it better musically. I'm not quite sure what to make of the music on "I Miss You". It includes a couple of Rootsy passages, but overall, I think it sounds too "Mainstream" for my taste. I think this is possibly the one example I've heard so far where Jim Scott overplays the backing, making this song a bit too close to some of TTLW for me. (I know some said that about the other clips - but I've only really noticed it here)

This song makes me feel so uplifted and positive and happy...it's not sad and depressing like some 'missing you' type songs!
I love I Miss You! Particularly, the steel guitar parts! Go Lloyd! You rock!

Most of the choruses are one line over and over again, and it's a little bit boring. But I love the songs anyway, just thought they could have been even better if the choruses were stronger. On the other hand, "See you in the spring" has an awesome chorus.

Lucinda Williams influence? Nice, better than The Coast (but still not the rootsy stuff I like - "Then Again" & ANSOM). I'd rather have Garage Bands with a bit of reverb than too much Nashvegas polish, though! LOL True words!! ;D

"We definitely are going to tour this and make another record. I know this isn't just a one-time, get-it-off-our-chests, get-these-songs-recorded-and-go-back-to-our-lives thing."
Interesting, those words couldn't sound more like they are talking about TTLW. *nods head*
