Just heard this on Pop Quiz on Radio 2 in the UK: Which group is made up of Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Robison and made their debut in the UK charts in 1999 with "There's Your Trouble"? I can't remember the answer , but I know that the guy got it right! (Top man! They're obviously better known in the UK than I thought!)

I know Martin McGuiness is the Deputy Chief Minister of Northern Ireland...and isn't Emily Robson that fifteen year old at Wimbledon?...Never heard of the other one, but two out of three's not bad! Do I get a prize?

That tennis player really IS a precocious talent, isn't she? To be able to play the banjo so well at the age of 5 and then to win Junior Wimbledon at the age of 14 is a remarkable feat. As for the third one, I wonder who the heck she is..... headscratchingsmiley Do I get a prize? Yes, a front row ticket at the next SBE concert. James said that he'd buy it for you as he is so sure that it will happen..... BTW, if that thug McGuiness had had anything to do with the Dixie Chicks (what a terrifying thought ), I wouldn't be here now - even if Nat had still been lead singer!

I've just picked myself up of the floor..........................................................and the bloke got it right? There is two explainations for this. 1. The contestant is an out and out fan cos who'd know their name's or the song off the top of their head? 2. Or they've given him the answer before he's gone on air!
Who's show was it Paul?

I've just picked myself up of the floor..........................................................and the bloke got it right? I know what you mean, as I was pretty shocked too! There is two explainations for this. 1. The contestant is an out and out fan cos who'd know their name's or the song off the top of their head? 2. Or they've given him the answer before he's gone on air! TBH, Tony, I suspect that it was more a case of the guy being fairly knowledgeable on music generally and, for anyone in the UK who may have heard of the Chicks, but is not a fan of theirs, TYT is probably the song that they are most likely to have heard of. Then again, before I heard NRTMN, I'd also heard of TYT, but I wouldn't have been able to tell you who had sung it! (Perhaps this should go in the Confessions thread! ) It was on Ken Bruce's show. It's the daily quiz that he does with two members of the public who phone in beforehand.

Yeah I've heard the competition before and at times I've thought the questions are pretty difficult. Not this one though.............anyone could get that couldn't they?

Incidentally, when asked what her musical tastes were, the first contestant on yesterday's quiz replied "Mainly country music. I LOVE the Dixie Chicks." Her name was Pauline. I wonder if she is a CRCRer? Could it be someone posing under the pseudonym Ross on here perhaps? Sadly, she lost the quiz quite handsomely!

Alikat, you mean to say that Ross has undergone a sex change?

There was a touch of déjà vu yesterday when this question was asked: In 1999, this female country group achieved their first UK top 40 hit with this song (followed by clip of TYT). Surprise, surprise, the contestant actually managed to get the right answer, even though he admitted that it was a guess! Those in the UK can hear it by clicking on the Ken Bruce show in this link and it appears at about 1 hr and 3 minutes: www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/programmes/schedules/2009/07/30(Methinks that the BBC might be running out of DCX questions! Perhaps Kent could send some into them for a small fee!

I would be happy to provide them with some great questions. All I ask is for 4 front row seats for the next concert at Albert Hall. I don't need a front row for SBE because I'm willing to wait seven hours in line with James, Martin, Amy, etc.....

I consider that to be a very generous offer, Kent, but, even accepting the unlikely supposition that the Chicks were ever to perform again at the Royal Albert Hall, given the stinginess of the BBC, I’d say that the chances of it happening are even slimmer than my prospects of becoming King of the Commonwealth. After all, I’d have to depose James and his popularity is so high that I’d probably get lynched! ;D I don't need a front row for SBE because I'm willing to wait seven hours in line with James, Martin, Amy, etc..... Martin who? Oh, I remember now, his surname is Gravy or something like that, isn't it.....?

Martin, or Oxo, is the folically challenged gentlemen who appears outside SBE during the return to the scene of the crime in SUAS. He is a member of this board too.
