Quote by thinwhitechick: Well, as Rick Nelson once sang: "You can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself." Quote by Bingo re. Adieu False Heart: Mind you, I wasn't comparing Adieu False Heart to Taking The Long Way, because they definitely are different. And unlike TTLW, there was virtually no expectation of high sales whatsoever for Adieu, since Ann Savoy was only a known quality in roots music circles, and Linda had, because of her refusal to commit to one style, been largely banished from radio airplay for the better part of sixteen years by that time.

Interesting topic with cool comments, thanks.
Seems as if the average, healthy American shelf life for musical artists is about seven years for commercial/popular dominance. After that, younger artists start to take over. The Chicks are now "older," so to speak, and things have geared down for a number of reasons, most of it being the natural ebb and flow, IMO.
I'm reminded of Emmylou Harris. After a failed CD in the early nineties, she was dropped, and she took that as her cue to do whatever she wanted, and out came "Wrecking Ball," which was amazing. She's been paving her own way ever since. I'd like to think the Chicks have the same intuitiveness and commitment to music that Emmy's shown. Seems like two of the three do, and Natalie will do whatever it is she needs to do - but I'm selfishly hoping it will include Emily and Martie.

^ Interesting. I agree. However, I don't think SONY would EVER drop the Chicks. They are the only Big Country Act they have signed..... And one of the Biggest overall. They still have a few #1 albums left in them. Just imagine if Country Radio would play them!! They would be doing great.
