NBC Slashes 'Heroes' Production For Season 4
But fans rejoice because there will be a Season 4!

There will be less "Heroes" to contend with next season, but that might be a good thing, at least according to one of the actors on the show.
Adrian Pasdar, who plays Nathan Petrelli in the series, said NBC's decision to cut fourth season of "Heroes" from 25 episodes to just 18 is practically a relief.
"We love the work, but in order for the quality to be maintained, you can't just keep grinding it out," Pasdar told TV Guide. "If things start shifting around, they can always add more at the end. But doing 25 episodes this year was nearly 11 months of work."
It's not clear if the number of episodes will be 18 or 20 next season, but the latter would be more in-line with most dramas anyway, that typically see between 20 and 24 episodes. The 25-episode seasons were designed to help "Heroes" tell rather complex stories, but that complexity is likely what's costing the show this season.
This year, "Heroes" has averaged a 4.7 rating/7 share in overnights, down nearly 29 percent from last year. It started at a series low with its third season premiere, and never regained steam at all after that.
Ratings obviously played a big factor in the reduced production schedule decision, but another variable could be the five less hours of production time NBC will have next season with the launch of a new nightly show from Jay Leno filling the 10 p.m. slot. That has left little room for other programs on the schedule, with some wondering where obviously adult shows like "Southland" could wind up (or be watered down for) next season.
"The pacing will be a little better," Pasdar said, "We were sometimes shooting three episodes at once, and there's no way that something doesn't slip through the cracks."
One confusing moment came in last week's episode when Rebel, played by Noah Gray-Cabey, seemed to have amnesia, being surprised to find out that Sylar (Zachary Quinto) was a shapeshifter, despite seeing him take a bullet in the form of Rebel just a scene earlier to help him escape.
The third season finale for "Heroes" airs Monday at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
