Thanks, Judy.
Robert Earl Keen is a long time friend of Emily's. He wrote "Merry Christmas From The Family", which the Chicks performed (though that is not typical of his better known road songs and outlaw story songs) Those with long memories may recall that his drummer, Tom Van Shaik, was in the Dixie Chicks' band in their pre-Nashville days.
"Wayfaring Stranger" is a traditional song, widely performed, often in "High Lonesome" or Bluegrass-Gospel styles. The best known version is probably Enmmylou's, from the early '80s, I think.

I think Natalie could perform a great vocal on that song (it's sometimes overlooked today, in considering Natalie's background, that South Plains College, where she studied for two years, has a strong reputation in Bluegrass training)
I'm certainly pleased to see this recording - but the fact that another of my favourites, Sara Watkins (of Nickel Creek, who have just regrouped this year after a seven year hiatus) is guesting here on fiddle, is perhaps a poignant reminder that it's still proving difficult to get the Dixie Chicks together in a recording studio.
