I don't think they are likely to release an album themselves without Sony (it may come to that, one day, but I don't think they're at that point yet). If they were contemplating going back to the self-release days, I think Martie would have released the instrumental album she made with Rob Ickes and Scott Vestal (and that seems to have been put into Limbo)
I do think Sony will be prepared to release a second CYH album - but at the same time, I doubt if it's seen as a high priority for their release schedule. In particular, I think Sony would expect the Hounds to promote it largely themselves, and may not be willing to release it unless they're ready to commit to another round of touring.
As I've said on several occasions, I don't see any reason to be concerned about M & E's commitment to continue with the project. The time scale for a new release seems (so far) pretty normal, and the snippets we've heard about songwriters and collaborations are about what I'd expect for an album in preparation.
The web chats did contain "chat" - but, basically, they were music-centered. Hence I wouldn't expect web chats to start again until the new music is about to be released.
Sure, I agree, it would be nice to have blogs or updates on web sites - but, let's face it - even if they can be sweet to individual fans in face to face situations, they've never been a "fan-friendly" group between their professional dates - so that's nothing new.

That's what I dislike most about them Chicks or CYH. Not fan friendly! They disappear and would rather leave fans wondering if we will ever hear from them again. Not cool!!!

Here's a short review of the concert. May 21 |10:14 AM Last Updated on Monday, 21 May 2012 10:26 mellencamp 300BOWLING GREEN, KY (5/21/12) – Saturday the 19th, John Mellencamp and the Court Yard Hounds performed a free concert at Houchens-Smith Stadium in Bowling Green. Around 260 Independence Bank employees were present in the crowded stadium. The Court Yard Hounds opened the show around 6:30 PM and Mellencamp took the stage around 8 PM. Sisters, Martie Maguire and Emily Robison, reinvented themselves as the Court Yard Hounds after their previous group, the Dixie Chicks, went on hiatus back in 2007. They gave an exceptional performance and received uproarious applause at the completion of their set. Mellencamp also pleased the excited crowd with classic favorites like "Jack and Diane", "Rain on the Scarecrow", and "Small Town". Mellencamp and expert fiddler, Miriam Sturm, took the audience on a nostalgic musical trip. All proceeds from the concert were presented to Farm Aid. Farm Aid was actually co-founded by Mellencamp in 1985 with Willie Nelson and Neil Young when they decided to organize the first Farm Aid concert to raise awareness regarding the loss of family farms. They started the organization to help raise money to keep farm families on their land. Dave Matthews later joined the Farm Aid Board of Directors in 2001. The organization has raised more than $39 million since its creation. I'm really surprised there aren't more pictures from the show. They had to have had the newspaper press people there..

Thanks for those photos of them. Good to see Fred and Martin too. I thought I saw Natalie Maines, formerly of the Dixie Chicks, sitting in row H. She was texting something on her phone and not paying attention to the music. I guess they put her in row H since she is on HIATUS!!!! ;D

Also strange that no one mentions that Emily is visibly pregnant. I tried tweeting a congrats to Martin to see if he'd reply. No dice.

Well if we want any updates on the CYH we need to rely more on Martin, not the CYH twitter or website. He posts more pics and snippets than their own sites do. And Jenni, it looks like he tweets a couple of times a month, so there is still a chance he'll reply.

Thanks for the photos.....it was sad to see all those empty seats in one of them, hope they filled up fast.
Any bets on how far along Emily is? 5 months? We ought to start a baby pool. I bet if Nancy was still with us she'd have the scoop for us. Miss you Nancy.

Martin tweeted this last night: "Bundle of joy arrives early sept!! Couldn't be happier!! New album hopefully early 2013... Exciting times."I'm assuming the "new album" is the CYH album? Anyway, I replied back with a congrats and asked him if it was his album or the CYH's. Lets see if he replies….
